As many of you know, I keep chickens. They are extremely well fed, which explains their "rotund" appearance. I have a list of things chickens like, for those of you who have chickens and don't mind spoiling them a bit.
Cooked rice--happiness in the coop with a lot of cooing and clucking.
Oyster crackers--lacking any other morning treat, I throw a handful of oyster crackers in the coop. It not only allows me to go in without stepping on a hen, they enjoy chasing crackers.
Cooked pasta--our hens may be a cross breed of Australian chickens, but they are Italian at heart. I learned that if giving them spaghetti, cut it up or you have chicken tug-of-war going.
Ham trimmings--the fat off a cooked ham, cut up fine, goes down a treat. Of course, they wander around for a bit with greasy beaks, but they don't seem to mind.
Bread--corn bread, French bread, herb breads, left over dinner rolls are big on a chicken's menu. Just make sure it is stale and a little hard so they can digest it easily.
Heaven help me if they ever find out about wine!

Chickens are omnivores and will eat about anything. Watched videos of them eating yogurt and oatmeal. They will even eat chicken... I know, right?? Ewwww!

Catdaddy, yes, the ladies will eat almost anything. I keep them away from dairy products since my "chicken bible" said it was bad for them, and I don't give them chicken because I agree--Ewwww!
