Came across this plant with a Scallop Squash like fruit this morning and is wandering what it is? Google it and can't find anything!

It has needle like thorns along its stems which you can see them on the above photo and it is a herbaceous plant. The leaves are singular elliptic.

    Anyone know what it is?

I agree, not a squash plant. Looks like it is growing on a shrub? More fruit-like than vegetable-like.

is the thorny plant part of the yellow fruited plant? that reminds me of "crown of thorns" houseplant.

Thank you all, I have also post it on facebook and Instagram but no result. I had been looking lots of Malaysian wild plant id sites but have not come across anything that is identical. Maybe it is a migrant :)

No Toni it is not a patty-pan squash because the plant is not similar and the maximum size is just about 3 inches.

Odif yes it is definitely not a squash.

Cayuga Morning it do look like a shrub, couldn't really tell because there is another shrub growing with it. Could be a poisonous fruit because the monkeys are not eating it. :)

Mart it is growing on the road shoulder under a small moringa tree. Yes the leaves are nothing like squash.

Carolyn the thorns are nasty if one is not careful. Is it the thorns that are keeping the monkeys away? Hmmm....

CAnderson91 I have been to several Malaysian Plants ID site but have yet to find anything similar and so far none of the site that I went to have contact information. I do too wander how many plant experts we have here! :)

I will continue to google it and keeping my fingers very :fingerscrossed:
