Wisconsin has been hit with many storms recently and a lot of people are still without electricity. I always wake up early and open the window blinds facing the lake and I was so shocked at what I had seen... The tree that the eagles perch on was down in the lake....what a shock. We were lucky it fell in the water but that makes it doubly hard to find someone to get rid of it, The trees I would guess are are 80-100 feet tall when they were standing. It was 1 tree that was divided....one half must have been hit by lightning many years ago and the other half had green leaves on it. Some of the branches the eagles and other birds would perch on looked dead and some had leaves. We haven't lived here that long, 2 years at the end of September and we just had 4 other trees removed about 4 weeks ago in the same area. I will post eagle pictures but they will be ones I have taken before the tree came down...
I hope the eagles find another tree and that you'll be able to take photographs of them again Sherry.
Oh dear! It's always sad to lose a tree, especially one that size. I hope the eagles will still pose for you somewhere nearby Sherry.
Now you have quite the fishing dock. Didn’t have to get permission to install it either. Maybe other wildlife will find it useful so you can continue to get those fantastic animal photos.
Just got a call from the DNR and they said if the tree wrecks someones dock, they can sue you...doesn't matter if it is an act of God so we will remove it this winter, or at least everything above water....talked to 3 other people and they said you are not responsible if it is an act of God...they should get their stories right... I am glad the first lady called back so we know it has to be removed...
Sherry, I am sorry you have lost that tree & the eagles' perch! Let's hope they find another place to survey the water from. Do you know what kind of tree it was? It isnt a walnut tree, is it?
No it wasn't a walnut, someone said it was one of those messy cottonwood trees but we are not positive. So many of the cottonwoods in our area that there is always that white stuff floating around...
