The doctors say the hole in Baby's heart has closed recently. It is called a PDA, and everyone has it before birth. It is supposed to close shortly after birth. Hers took awhile. Her lungs are still very weak, and I am not sure how much oxygen she is on, but some of her meds have been reduced. She smiles now when she is awake.

The kids have had some major car problems this past week, and it is still in the shop. He finally got a loaner yesterday.

We did get some outdoor work done yesterday, and am still cleaning up storm damages from January. I did get out and mow earlier this week.

I hope all of you are well. Thanks for the good wishes and prayers.

I'm so glad to hear that the baby appears to be getting stronger. I still think of her almost every day and hope she continues to improve.

Prayers for your entire family !! This can be difficult on everyone !! I worked 15 years in a medical office and one patient delivered twins at a bit over 1 lb each !! Can`t remember the exact weight but sure wasn`t much !! They are now in their early 30`s with children of their own !! God does work in mysterious ways !! Few gave these two a chance at survival but you should see them now !!

My granddaughter is scheduled to have heart surgery Friday (13th) to close the PDA completely. Apparently, it is not completely closed. My kids are on the way there to be with her a few days. She now weighs 4 lbs 8 oz, and her breathing is improving. Her 02 is down to 53% on the machine. I HOPE she can come home in October near her due date, and not have to stay until Thanksgiving or need a trach and live in nurse.

Thank you for all of the well-wishes and prayers. :)

I'm hoping along with you that everything goes well for your little grand daughter on the 13th. I'm pleased to hear that her weight is up and that her breathing is improving. Now what we want to hear is that she's well enough to go home in the near future. :fingerscrossed:

I didn't realize that I had not updated here in awhile.

Baby is just over 2 months old. She had heart surgery (in through the groin area like an angioplasty) to patch the hole/ PDA in her heart. Everyone has that before birth, and it is supposed to close up about the time a person is born. Hers only partly closed, and so they did the surgery on her a couple weeks ago.

She is up to 5 1/2 lbs now, and had some shots for her eyes. Poor baby, but they did give her pain meds and extra oxygen. DS says her oxygen level is back down around 40% and fluctuates some. They are going to see her tomorrow. Last week DIL had a cold, so they stayed home.

They are not supposed to take her out for 6 months after she comes home. I never heard that except one friend whose husband made her do that when their kids were born.

They had car problems and got stranded in St Louis, and had to rent a U-Haul to tow it home, then it was in the garage for several weeks. It seems millennial car designers now put the water pump in inaccessible places and the engine must be removed to replace them. What a totally stupid idea! Then a certain agency gave them a ride up there and hotel room, and left them stranded again. My friend and I had to go pick them up at the nearest bus station 100 miles away late at night... They are home and hope to go in the morning.

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers. They are much appreciated.

I hope the baby's oxygen levels begin to pick up and that she'll soon be able to breath properly on her own. Thankfully she's gaining weight which is a good sign. Poor little mite has been through so much in her short life!! My thoughts are with you all and I hope the next update will bring lots of good news for your grand daughter, son and daughter-in-law.

Actually, my son is in his 40s, and has a grown daughter who is married and a grandson. DIL is in her mid 30s, and was a high risk pregnancy.
