This morning we harvested our long awaited pineapple, we had to wait about 4 years for this fruit because the last one was taken by monkeys. We were able to keep the monkeys away because we had our garden perimeter electrified. I was losing egg plants, a couple more pineapples, cucumber and whatever they fancy constantly to them. This plant is from the many crowns of the very first pineapple that I planted in my mini farm. One of the largest pineapple that I got was in November 2012 and it was 3.7kg. When the pineapple is ripened on the plant it is very sweet and the crown have lots of roots and is ready to be planted. We had 1/3 of it stir fried with pig large intestine for lunch and another 2/3 is for 2 deserts after dinner and the next day
Pineapple looks good ! Didn`t know Chitterlings (hog intestine) were eaten there like here in the southern U.S! Thats one thing I have never tried ! Have to draw the line at something ! Somehow it just doesn`t make your mouth water !
I love pineapple! So must many others! I read a story last night. Students, on a lark, snuck into a art show set to open the next day. They placed a pineapple on a stand to see what would happen. The next day they found someone had put a glass cover over it!
Thanks Mart, that pineapple is really good. Yes we eat almost the whole pig here. Some people here don't cook innards but eat them in restaurants because they do not know how to clean them. It's been 4 years since the monkeys ate the pineapple!!?? Wow!! How time passes. Glad to hear that your pineapple was yummy....I think pig intestines would not be my first choice on a restaurant menu. Nice solution to the monkey problem. Do the monkeys try to bypass the electrified fence or do they just give up? Jerry
Thanks Netty Thanks Jerry, initially I left a space in the front porch for us to get in and out of the garden easily and those little devils found about it quickly. They usually get in from the back and when the fence was up a couple of them tried to get and got zapped!!! It is kind of a entertaining to watch. One day our egg plant was completely stripped of all it's fruits when we were out and we knew that the only place the can get in is by the front porch. I quickly got that place fenced off and now the whole perimeter is guarded. Every now and then some of them would try their luck
