@Cayuga Morning I LOVE your counter tops! Fantastic! Like your cupboards too - very nice colour.

I was going to say that looking down at spice tops would make finding a spice easy but then you said it was kinda hard to see which is which. I have the same problem looking at everything inside the cupboard - they're all in front of and behind each other so I'm always moving and shuffling things. I've thought about trying to get individualized recognizable containers for some of the most commonly used ones but just have never gotten around to it.

I tend to use lots of some spices so they've gotten into bigger jars and those are much easier to grab and see than the little jars imo.

Also once I end up with a good sized spice jar that fits well with the amount of that spice I'm using I'll use that jar forever more and just re-fill from Bulk Barn Spice Shop. This has also lead to the hodge podge of containers.....I definitely do NOT have a neat spice cupboard.

I don't either Island. A kitchen is basically a work room, not a show room, right? We are in our kitchens three times a day (or twice) cooking and cleaning up afterwards.

But I have been thinking, if I laid our spice jars down the way Sjoerd's Bride does, we could sure see everything better.

@Cayuga Morning The way @Sjoerd 's Bride is organizing her spices sure makes lots of sense to me. One layer and easy to spot. Part of my problem is some of my spice jars are really big so they're not going to fit into a drawer.

    MART-- Clever you...job security...yeah, I like that.

    Good storage place, DIRT.

ISLAND-- That spice cupboard of yours looks great, you got nothing to complain about. haha.I called the Bride over to read the thread and your comments. She appreciated your nice words.

CAYU--Your S&H arrangement looks oké to me...and you have sorted the problem of "tops up showing" by sticking labels on them.--crafty. I have to say though, when I saw those silver shaker tops in your first and second pics, at first glance I thought those were small silver bell Christmas tree decorations...but logic eventually prevailed. I tried to read the little text on that white piece of paper, but couldn't make it out.
The Bride also enjoyed reading your nice words very much.
She also has a special drawer for larger containers for when we buy small tubs of the various spices. Cheers mate.

@Sjoerd.....you will get a chuckle out of this. A few weeks ago, I decided that it was time to take the fermented thai peppers and make hot sauce with those puppies. The flavor would be wonderful if you could get past the fire. Just one tiny drop on the tongue and it was called Liquid Burn!!! Way too hot for us. Bottled it and it rests in the fridge for the brave at heart!!
