Ok I was bored this morning and in the process of taking out the trash ! Had a couple of the two litre drink bottles and was hesitant to toss them ! Then got a bright idea to make a self watering seed starter since many times we just forget to do it ! I cut the top off at the ridge at the top of the label ! This was Mountain Dew,, diet of course,, but any would work as long as its smooth sided !
Then I cut the body down to about 4 or 5 inches ! So the center part was put in the trash. turned the top upside down and rested it in the bottom part just to see how it fit ! You want the mouth of the bottle to be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the bottom of the container ! Then I cut a bit of foil and put it over the top of the upper portion and slid the seal ring over to secure it ! That keeps the foil in place ! Used duct tape to make lift handles on the top part so I could remove the top from the bottom to add water ! Then poke a small hole in the foil for the water to get in ! Then add potting soil to top and add water to bottom ! Rest top in the bottom ! Should allow enough water to take care of new seedlings through the small hole in the mouth of the bottle which is at the bottom !
I know this sounds confusing but its really simple and one more plastic bottle is saved from the land fill !

Think of this as a great time to upload a picture of this labor saving device!

pics would be nice. it can be a bit of a pain to get pictures from your phone to your PC, here's how I'm doing it. install imgur.com app on your phone and make an account, sign into that account on your PC, take pictures using the imgur.com app and you'll have them easily available on your PC.

but, TBH this sounds like a "life hack" that seems good but in the end, it isn't really worth it. it's really hard to beat holes in cups on a flood tray.

Actually most of these sites allow a phone\mobile login to grab camera control and it resizes and uploads the photo as you snap it which is nice. No need for a resizing app.

I have sent exactly three pics from this phone in 5 years ! I didn`t think it was that difficult to just cut the middle from a soda bottle and stick the top part into the bottom part ! I know men do not read directions so maybe thats why they need pics ! ;)
Seriously,, I don`t know how to do all that stuff and my PC can`t be used for pics either for a couple of reasons ! Not going to buy a new PC just to send pics !
