the weather has been truly depressing. and the greenhouse plastic got ripped up a bit by either my cats or an animal... the super-thin extra cheep plastic sheets was not a good idea ( who would of Thunk! )

also, some of my seedlings are not doing so hot...

the cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers now all have flowers, which I think isn't a big deal, but leads me to believe I started them indoors too early.
there is some yellowing on some of them.. I strongly suspect that they NEED to get potted up ASAP, the problem is its still too cold!

the peppers lower leaves turn yellow and dropped off, but there seem to be some new leaves or branch growing.

Interestingly the peppers which were never poted up and had poor lighting seem to be fine except they haven't really grown bigger. ( didn't have space to pot them up and give a good amount of light )
now that I have more space because I moved many tomatoes to the window sill, maybe I should pot up these peppers....

The tiny Tim Tomatoes seem to be doing pretty good! seems to be OK to start these earlier, they are easier to manage.

and I think this looks pretty cool.

    Harding Off the plants,
its a nice sunny day 10oC 52oF so I gave all the plants a little over 2 hours of sun.

I noticed some tomatoes desperately needed watering, even tho I've been watering frequently, its because right under the window sill there is a baseboard heater which is drys the air. I'm going to have to water them every single day, if not twice a day, HOPEFULLY, the two really sorry looking tomatoes pull through.

Hey, your tomatoes look good! I'm getting ready to plant potatoes. I finally found red and purple. I think my granddaughter will enjoy the different colors. I also got the old stand by, Yukon Gold. So we'll have a variety of potatoes. I'm also trying potato grow bags. My fingers are crossed that they'll do well in them.

ok, the list above is all done for the most part.

on the agenda this week is:

    1) start bush/pol beans, corn indoors
    2) continue to harden off plants on sunny days ( currently at 4hour+ full sun exposer )
    3) build up the bamboo trellis
    4) prep the area where the 3 mini 3 sisters garden will go
    5) build a potato tower?
    6) buy 8-foot furring strips to be used as tomato stakes as seen on youtube:
    7) curb alcoholic tendencies acquired during lockdown :whistling:

MIgardener, I love him! I haven't watched the video you posted, yet, but he has a great one on planting potatoes in containers (hence my potato bags). I will be looking up potato tower next. Sounds interesting. I do have a stackable set of pots for my strawberries. And my rhubarb is about 3 or 4 inches, yeah! MIgardener is also the one that I listened to about cold weather crops. And I have lettuce and carrots coming up (although I did start several weeks after he did). I thought he'd be a good one since there's "only" a great lake between us and all the others I tried were in California, Arizona, Australia (I don't know how he got on my radar) etc. I don't have to curb my alcoholic tendencies, I don't drink, mine is Hershey kisses, M&Ms and Barbara's jalapeno cheese puffs. Good luck with your tomato stakes.

Its probably to early, but I planted 1 tomato to see if it would live. next few days will be OK, but there's 1 night were temp will drop to 1oC and few cool nights will fallow, I wonder if the tomato will be OK, ill keep it covered...

not much has changed but I might as well post some pics, because why not.

Everything will be planted outside in about 9days, ill say it again, next time, I'm starting the seedlings 2 weeks later!
I recently planted beans in pots, they should germinate by the time its time to plant everything outside

My sister is going to start a little veg patch, but she lives further up north, so ill take extra care of one tomato plant for her a little while longer.

A co-worker gave me some raspberry starts, which I planted a couple days ago. They've perked up and look very happy. I replanted peas, only one of the first batch came up. I'm going to direct sow my beans, maybe this weekend and depending on the weather possibly zucchini. So far all of my cool weather plants have started....except the peas. The potatoes are all in their grow bags/pots. And last but not least I planted a second set of carrots, beets, and lettuce.

raspberry is something I definitely want to try to add to the garden, but I heard the first year it's not productive, so I planted only veg last year. i really should try to add in a raspberry bush or two, and now I'm wondering if the garden centers are reopening soon...

I love berries, I miss being able to walk anywhere and pick blackberries. I do have a black raspberry plant but the ones I just got are red. I also got the last boysenberry plant last year and it seems to be doing well.

I think raspberries are better adapted to the harsh canadine winter, so I'd go with that I guess. currently, I have green onions which I just harvest the tops in a cut and come again way, and they grow back every year, this is gr8, I need more plants like that. I always wanted to replace the 2 trees in the front with 2 apple trees, maybe one day...

I, also would like to get rid of a couple trees I inherited when I moved into this house. This house was built in the post WWII era, so I don't know why fruit trees weren't planted. They all seem to be ornamental. I never even heard of a Russian Olive tree until I moved here. And it doesn't even give olives!
I have Egyptian walking onions, and I want to plant some garlic this fall.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, my idea of planting beans this weekend was dashed, when our weather went down. We had snow this morning! Not enough to stick, but too cold to plant warm weather stuff.
