I happened to look out at our suet feeders I had mounted on the maple tree just outside of our kitchen window. Here lying on top of the one feeder was a young grey squirrel who felt safe enought to doze off. I was surprised to see it just lying there.
Then yesterday we had a fox squirrel lying and sulking on our upper deck. I figured it was because he couldn't eat any of the seeds out of the feeder behind him as it is a squirrel proof feeder. DSCN7453.JPG DSCN7448.JPG

Watch out, Tooty! Squirrels have a way of getting revenge, mostly by making holes in your roof, or tearing down feeders! (This is a post by someone who has been there, done that, and had it done to her!)

Yes these two were pretty funny to watch. Marlin our squirrels would have to use a drill or torch to make holes in our roof. It's metal ;). They have tried to get at the other feeders but so far haven't figured out how to do it. Praying that they stay that way. Yes squirrels can do a lot of damage to ones home.

ESPECIALLY red squirrels. We have a vacation cottage and the red squirrels have been the bane of our existence. Chewing holes in the roof, the siding, etc to get in. They do an incredible amount of damage to a seasonal cottage.

We finally found a way of dealing with them but it isn't pretty.

Cayuga squirrels can be pretty distructive. We have a large black walnut tree in our yard. One year we watched a very industerous red squirrel picking up the nuts and heading for our neighbors yard. He had a garage that didn't have any doors on it. So one day while he was in his garage he noticed that the ceiling tile in one corner of the garage was bowing. He had a small storage area up there. So he went up there to investigate. Here the red squirrel was taking the black walnuts from out yard and storing them in the ceiling of his garage. The next year he put doors on the garage.
Yes Mart we do have well fed squirrels in our yard.

@Tooty2shoes , at one point in my childhood, our parents bought an old Victorian house, 3 stories tall with an attic-like space. Shortly after moving in, my brother was exploring the attic. He discovered a squirrels nest up there that was 3 feet tall by 4 feet wide! He heard a noise and
it shocked him so that he jumped and fell through the floor ( it was only sheet rock on studs), landing in the room below!

He was okay, fortunately. So we then proceeded to shovel the squirrel's nest through the floor to the room below then out the 3rd floor window! We were all filthy when we were done.

Yikes Cayuga that is a hug nest. So glad that there weren't baby squirrels in it. That your brother didn't get hurt.

Islandlife--Yes they are lazy. They wait up in the trees for me to come out each morning and put seed out for them. Once back in the house they descend from their hiding places.
The grey squirrel sleeping on the suet feeder takes a nap there almost everyday.

The one time I dislike squirrels is when they take a bite out of a nice, ripe tomato. One bite and on to another. Grrrrrr! Still, they're cute to watch as they play.
