These arrived about three years ago and I don't know whence they came. I did notice them again last year but they never flowered. This year I have a bloom !!. I thought they were escapees from my Crocosmia but they are not. Would appreciate your knowledge as usual. Thanks.
Palustris is spot on with his ID Mego. Their common name is kaffir lily which will be easier for you to remember.
Well, Odif thanks but you got it wrong. Palustrus is spot on after I looked at the plant carefully again. Eileen I like the common name Kaffir Lily. But you did mention Bush Lily which seems to be different. Anyway, thanks all for the input and solving my plant names. I seem to have a lot of South African species in my gardens. My late wife planted allsorts and after revamping the gardens after her passing to make things easier for me, I must have dug in a lot and now they are returning after six years. Amazing.
It is an odd plant in some ways. We planted all the different colours in our previous garden, deep red red through pink to white. Eventually all we had were the red ones. Either the original colours died and were replaced by seedlings or they naturally change colour. They also seeded everywhere if I forgot to dead head them. Alternative name is River Lily.
