I have limited space for houseplants but have gotten creative this last summer. Creating shelves above the windows in which to place and hang plants has expanded my growing spaces. I rid myself of plants that have gotten to large regularly. I live in a very walkable neighborhood so I usually take starts and put the parent plants on the street for whoever takes a liking to the orphan. Winter snuck up on me though and I ended up with a few more plants than anticipated. I probably have a plant problem but once they can be moved back out to the shack/shed it won’t be so obvious. I was thinking maybe I need a fellow plant enthusiast to exchange some of the more unusual plants with, .....but then again maybe not. You see, I didn’t include several other spaces that contain plants.
Gosh that's a LOT of plants you shown us - and you have even more!!I I have a feeling you're a bit of a plant -aholic Jewell.
I have never seen so many plants indoors. I am impressed at how you came up with ideas to accommodate your lil green buddies. If it is too much or not, I don’t know, but one thing for sure is that there will be plenty of fresh oxygen in your home— inhale, exhale, inhale....
WOW!! That IS super creative house planting I can empathsize though cause I don't have nearly enough table space or hanging spots I can put my plants
I love it Jewell. Yes, growing plants can create problems which call for creative solutions. How long does it take you to water them all? I love your display. Here are my clivia babies: I grow them in the basement until they reach a presentable size. Then I give them away.
Great nursery view. Bless they lil hearts. Some lucky pals that you have. Keep up that good work. I can still recall when you first wrote about what to do with your little babies growing out from their mother plant. They are coming right along, aren’t they.
Yes Eileen, I am a bit of a plant-aholic. Half of my plants are descendants from old favs. The other half are from recent years. Now Sjoerd I have seen your window sills filled with seedings in the past so am surprised you’d think this is a “number of plants” Mart, the lamp is a small part of my collection of 50s lamps I acquired years ago from thrift stores. I still like them better than the new lamps/lights I find need to be completely replaced after a few years. Thanks for the plant compliment Susie, you’d be welcome to all you could carry away. I used to take plants to work for giveaways but since I retired I’ve taken to abandoning them in my front sidewalk CM, those are lovely. It is fantastic that you can find homes for the beauties. My watering is sporadic and most of my plants are Hoyas, rhipsalis, peperomia, philodendron and cactus types that all like to get dry before watering. My ferns and the crazy pitcher plant are the only ones with individual needs and they have adapted or died After exploring my home I’ve found 3 other areas that are possibilities for grow lights. In January I have at least 5 parent plants that will need to be divided and set free I try to have no more than 2 pots of any variety. Last year I got rid of over 50 houseplants in the spring, boxes of elephant garlic and other oddities in surplus. It’s really more cluttered with plants than I like in the house but many will return to my shack after the January/February freeze is completed.
So not so long from now the plants will be returned to their proper home. They only have to put up with you for another few months!
yeah... thats a lot of plants. I feel for you .. needing to exchange plants because you know you need more.
