Happy Saturday morning to you all! We have light fog and lots of humidity, so I'm in the kitchen making chicken vegetable soup.
Today is one of our bird count days for Cornell, and in spite of the weather, we have 10 species so far. A Cooper's Hawk flew in to one of the pasture trees. I love to see the hawks (the chickens are less thrilled, even with their secure coop).
Even though we are retired, we like weekends. It's a time to get a bunch of little things done that we missed or ignored during the week; the TV programs are a bit more interesting; and if the weather permits, we sit on the patio and congratulate ourselves for what we have and can share. However, we do not share the glasses of wine on the patio table!

Blue sky day. Temps mild and a great day to be outside. Feels like spring despite the frozen ground this morning. Love that the days are getting noticeably longer.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast.
Another day of spring cleaning ahead for me today. Purging, just in time to bring home things from Mom and Dads house. We have started cleaning out the house now, and there is so much stuff to find homes for. Yesterday we did the kitchen, and so I have a bunch of dishes etc to sort through and put away/donate. It's going to be a long process.
Going to make another cup of tea, turn on the radio and start cleaning/sorting my kitchen!
Have a great day all :)

Today started out overcast, with a threatening sky. I scurried back from tending to the hens just in time to miss a real downpour and wind. It passed quickly, and now it's sunny and 60 degrees--vast improvement!
I never thought I'd say this, but I really want something for lunch or dinner that I haven't cooked! In our small town there are few options for take-out, just Tex-Mex or Chinese. We ordered from the Chinese restaurant about once a week, but when my husband went in the last time, they were not enforcing the state and local mask mandate. With customers standing around with no masks, we wondered what was going on in the kitchen. We have tried various frozen foods and haven't found anything good. I think I need to put on my big girl pants and hit the kitchen!
Hope you all have a sunny and not cold day!

Well Jane, this type of antisocial laxness is exactly why we are only cooking for ourselves these days. Better safe than sorry.
It has been ten months for us now, so the Bride has had the big girl pants on for some time. She looks good in them, she looks good even in garden pants.
I’m gonna keep saying that so maybe she’ll keep on cookin’.
BTW, we are saving money by cooking for ourselves.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -4°C and overcast. We are under a special weather statement that says we will be getting lots of snow today, starting around 10am.
Thats a good enough excuse for me to stay home today! I'll continue on my cleanout/purge and go to Dads tomorrow instead.
I'm kinda feeling like a good, hearty, home cooked meal as well. Perfect day to make a casserole in one of my new casserole dishes.
Have a great day all :)

Nice and sunny today, if a bit chilly with 48 degrees.
I am a bit worried about Hank in Alabama. A tornado struck last night with a lot of destruction. I do hope he and his were not in the path.
I am also worried about Eileen. Scotland has had a spike in Covid cases, according to our newscasts here in the USA. They are also feeling the effects of Brexit--the latest being Scots beef ranchers.
Not a thing I can do about either situation, except hope for the best.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -8°C and cloudy.
We had our first real snowfall of 2021 yesterday and overnight. Today, it is fresh and white and cold and looks beautiful.
Once I shovel my way out I am headed off to dads for the day.
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -18°C and clear. It was a very chilly dog walk this morning!
Finally a 'regular' Thursday at home to get me back into my routine of Thursday morning errand and shopping day! It hasn't been routine since the beginning of November when my Mom got sick. Now with Dad moved into assisted living things are starting to get back to 'normal'.
I got a Brecks catalog in the mail yesterday, and I'm thinking that I have found a few 'must haves'. I'll have a better look today.
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently a very chilly -21°C and sunny. It was one of those dog walks that was really fast because the air was hurting my face haha
Off to Dads today with my sister, to sort through some more rooms. Thankfully we have very different taste and seem to agree on just about everything so far.
It will probably take us a few weeks so sort out everything.
Have a great day all :)

You are making me shake with chill-bumps. Those temps are too low for my taste.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -19°C and clear. Not quite as cold as yesterday so my dog walk was a little longer today.
Enjoying a cup of tea and then off to Dads. We made great progress yesterday and today it's a matter of getting all the sorted piles to the places they need to go.
    Then the actual cleaning begins.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I sympathize with all the work you and your sister are doing. I remember all too painfully how hard it was to clean out my mother's house and dispose of the contents. Please don't overdo.
We have wind! The trees are dancing and the hens' feathers were blown backwards. I was glad to get back to the house and have a cup of hot coffee.Think I'll set up the seed starting shelves and get ready to plant my herb starts tomorrow.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -17°C and clear. It was another chilly dog walk this morning.
We made excellent progress at Dads yesterday, getting the clothing donations, hazardous waste and trash removed. Once that was all removed it felt so much cleaner in there!
Today I'm staying home to organize my own home and all the items I have brought home.
Have a great day all :)
