I'm quick on the draw. I think I was a gunslinger in a previous life.

I hope this thread doesn't die because I was really enjoying it.

    Oh yeah other great movies:
    - My Left Foot
    - Shawshank Redemption
    - Matrix I
    - Glengary Glen Ross (if you haven't seen this one you ABSOLUTELY have to)

It star Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon and Kevin Spacey. It is about the cut-throat back-stabbing world of real estate. Great performances, especially by Lemmon and Spacey. Great ending.

    Highly recommended.

Sounds interesting especially with those actors!!! Will have to keep an eye out for it.

One film I have grown to detest (although I thought it was great once upon a time) is White Christmas!!! Overkill comes to mind. :(

I've also seen the modern version of Romeo and Juliet but can't make up my mind if I really like it or not. :? I think you have to see it more than once before you can form an opinion. Have you seen it and if you what did you make of it?

I watched one of my favourite classic films last night. "Portrait of Jennie."
Joseph Cotten is a struggling artist in 1934, the era of the depression and meets the child Jennie, played by Jennifer Jones, in a deserted Central Park.
She's dressed as would a child have been in around 1900. They meet again over the next few weeks, "she tells him she'll hurry up to get older for him," each time she's aged a few years until, she becomes an adult young woman. He paints her portrait. Big romance, but she disappears. He tries to find her. She of course is a ghost, she actually died in 1924.

The film was made by David O Selznick. It was a box office flop at the time, but cost more to make than his "Gone With the Wind."

I was impressed that Jennifer Jones played her character at all ages.
Including her first appearance, she would have been 29 at the time.

This is the portrait, actually painted by the artist, Robert Brackman.

The film I remember enjoing for the music as much as the story line was Dancing with Wolve wes. with Kevin Costner. I have the 3 CD Edition and have watched in twice...I have seen a few others along the way, but am not into TV or Films generally as my spare time is spent listening to music of all genre's. Time is not there for both and I do spend time talking to friends a lot lately as well..Enjoy reading the thread though..keep it coming I say....

My all time favourite contemporary film is "Lone Star"
Starring Elizabeth Pena, Chris Cooper and Kris Kristofferson.
It's a modern day mystery Western, with several different stories of personal relationships. I must watch it a couple of times a year.

These are in 4k ultra HD. DVD. The Martian, Bohemian rhapsody, 2001 space odyssey, blade runner the final cut. There's some that we haven't got around to watching but all with 4k ultra HD.

Before we've watched Terminator and the follow on, Alien and Alien 2, Back to the future and the follow on.The Xfiles the movie, it was alright but i preferred the series that we've watched.Star trek movies, again the series are better. Close encounter. Indiana Jones

I've never watched ET, any musicals

I recently saw Nomadland. It was execellent but a bit depressing. I had seen Frances McDormand in Three Billboards of Epping Missouri (also excellent) & really liked her. I recommend both.

The ‘Three Billboards’ was a good one, wasn’t it. We have been hearing a lot about Nomadland here but have no idea when that foreign film will make it here. I am interested in it though. I am disappointed to learn that it is a bit depressing though. The McDormand lady is very a good actress, I agree.

The last film that I saw was this evening on the telly. A film called, “Yesterday”.
