I transplanted all the Hyacinth bulbs I could find last spring into a square tub and then promptly forgot they were there until the green started coming up last month. Now, just in time to have thier little buds nipped by the ice, one has started blooming. If the ice doesn't get them there should be at least two more in bloom in the next week or so.

That's a sad looking Dusty Miller in the background, also a transplant from another part of the garden after a hard time last summer.

Hyacinths are one of my husbands favorites so we have quite a few. I haven't looked out to see if any are coming up with this crazy weather we are having. At least you can enjoy a little of yours.

Poor little thing is trying to hard to grow up and be beautiful. It doesn't realize how pretty it is right now.

I love them, but can only grow them in a glass jar and only after about 6 weeks of wintering in a fridge. Even then, its hit and miss affair, as some of the bulbs go soft in our climate. Still, a couple usually survives and I am rewarded with their beautiful flower and smell throughout the house.
