MY apples have only a few due to the hail. At my work, however, which is higher up, due to the later flowering and the 70 beehives, they are loaded. There are about 60 trees and it is my job to prune, feed and look after them. I also get to harvest and keep most of them. My boss only wants a few of them.

Our apple trees and two of the pear trees are loaded also. I thinned one apple tree because I was afraid of broken branches.
Mart, what varieties do you grow?

My apple trees are having a bumper year too. I was getting clusters of five at the budding sites on the branches. There has been the regular “june drop” , but we filled a trug with oodles of apples where we limited each cluster to not more than three. They are progressing well, and still now are shedding apples.

Ours are Granny Smith except one that is supposed to be Golden Delicious ! Have my doubts about that though !At 15 or more apples per branch mine are about to break and I am not tall enough to reach the top branches ! I am going to start making chutney tomorrow ! No need to waste them !

Mart, your ? apple may well be a Yellow Delicious. Ours is full of apples, and we had them last year so we know that it is truly a Yellow Delicious.
We can't reach the top of our trees, but we have a snake grabber and use that to reach high up. We got ours at Walmart, and it reaches about 52" and is easy to use.

One of our apple trees is "self-culling" and we saw a deer early this morning being helpful. She was eating the apples off the ground and leaving those on the tree alone. Bless her, I may bake her an apple pie!
