Couple different kinds, each in their own 6 pack, so I used two of each kind. They were barely 4 inches high when I planted them at the beginning of the summer. I dug two of each kind into the pot with the creeping Jenny and they looked ridiculous for the longest time, completely dwarfed by the huge pot they were in. I knew they’d fill in but I had no idea they would get this big or this gorgeous!
They look lovely @Ronni If you stay mainly frost free where you are, these are really good at the moment for doing some cuttings, and they root very easily. Just think, you could have a whole garden full
Coleus are one of my favourite plants as they have so many variations. Yours are putting on a wonderful show Ronni.
Well done, Ronni. I like seeing a good Coleus, and yours are very showy. It appears that they have not yet bloomed. I like Coleus blooms. I had them for years and they just kept going and going.
They look beautiful @Ronni if you want to take cuttings they root well in water.Same as Tetters i have to treat them like annuals but do well as house plants.
Sjoerd I pinch off the blooms when they start to emerge because if I don’t the plants get really leggy and ugly looking. As long as I keep up with pinching off the blooms as soon as they start, the coleus develop that lovely rounded and very full shape.
Logan I’ve tried several times to cultivate them indoors. You’re right they root really easily. But I just can’t manage to keep them alive after they’re planted. I have dozens of house plants for many years now, so I’m not inexperienced. Coleus just don’t transplant well indoors here for some reason. Temps here get below freezing off and on during the winter so I bring my smaller patio plants in, but can’t with the big ones like the coleus, so every fall I clean out the pots once the plants start to die off.
Ronni that's a shame, can grow them from seed. I did once and get a lot of colours but I kept them indoors.
