I've used Pythagorean theorem to set out a polytunnel :)

I enjoyed high school, and attended a Christian boarding school for my junior and senior year. I got a college preparatory diploma because I hoped to attend college.

A lot of relatives thought I ought to be a nurse because my Mother is (now retired) a nurse. I did get accepted into the 3 nursing schools of my choice based on test scores for those tests they give (ACTs or SATs?).

I took: 4 years English, 4 years Bible, Physics, Geometry I, Algebra I, Chemistry, 2 years of French, PE, Advanced Clothing, American History, Civics, Typing, World History, Biology... maybe a few others. I was in the second choir, and worked in the cafeteria to earn my tuition (not allowed now). I had high grades too, but not the highest.

I learned that I was good at English, because one year I slept through English class and aced it. The Teacher said if I did not stay awake, he would give me extra homework. I took the extra homework. He would wake me and ask me questions, and I told him the answers. I aced my homework and tests. The reason I was so sleepy is because I worked early mornings in the cafeteria, and my roommate was rather noisy at nights, and English was my first class of the day. I "won" the Sleeping Beauty Award, which was a pillow. [I did not want an alternate job.]

The only classes I did not like was PE, and Algebra.

I did try nursing school at another college some years later and passed the entrance exam in the top 2% nationwide, but did not finish. I do not want to be a nurse. However, I also took several years of university for English and History which I love.

And yes, I did get my "MRS" a year after high school...

I do not think I even remember the Pythagorean theorem, except we had to use it in Geometry class... We had to use a lot of theorems in geometry. I hate/d Algebra, but I can still do a few minor equations if I have to. I don't remember the how of figuring out angles and whatnot any more.

I studied English, German, and French in high school. We also had history, geography, religions, maths, physics and chemistry the first year. The last two was languages only. What I learned was that if I feel I don't fit in to go look elsewhere for a better environment. I also learned that I didn't have to love a subject in order to get good grades. Sometimes it just needed extra work.

What did I learn in high school? That life was for exploring outside of small towns and they were good places to say you were from, but not necessarily good places to stay. Life is a journey of learning new things and meeting new people and ideas. Variety is the spice of life and knowledge often comes from a variety of experiences. Joy, appreciation and a great sunrise make for the best of days.
