I dread the month of August coming up. My late wife Linda died on the 14th August 2014. She had a really awful last two years of suffering. Linda was my soul mate, friend and dear wife. We met in february 1963 and got married on the 11th May 1963. Everyone thought a shotgun wedding. Well, they had to wait four years before the patter of tiny feet. Her ashes are in my front garden her favourite place, she loved gardening. She was a country girl and I was a city boy. Well, you know, city boys have green fingers we can grow anything !!. The gardens were hers and I had to keep my hands off them !!. The garden where she lies does far better than the one on the other side of my bungalow !!. I miss her so much. But her gardens keep me happy with the memories of her.

Mego, you are so strong to focus on the happiness you two shared, and the gardens which are a memorial to her. The ache never goes away, but it does ease a bit, and it seems you are finding a way to lessen the ache of missing your wife.

My dear friend. It's so easy for folk to say. I know how you feel. Each and everyone have their memories of friends and loved ones. Your memories are YOURS, and only yours.

Strange but your married life and mine began around the same time. Valerie and I married 22 September 1961. For us it was love at first sight. Just before our golden anniversary, 9.June 2010.Val failed to wake up from open heart surgery. We endured all those years, without a row. We have two daughters. I have a plaque in the garden for her. I find perhaps the simplest of moments that come to mind. Me in the garden and Val up at the window. That looks nice luv. Then. I fancy a cuppa...........how about you? These are our memories.
