we had fall-out from a massive sand cloud high up in the atmosphere coming from Afrika. The sky went a funny colour and when it rained, the rain brought it down on us. here, the fine sand is visible in top of the auto heading into the carwash. There were waiting lines at all our carwash places, sometimes there were even altercations which we saw on the news. Foto from the internet. There were all kinds of fotos to see everywhere of the sand on things left outside and the odd-coloured skies.
The weather is certainly throwing everything it can at you isn't it? For a change we actually have sunshine today here in Scotland!!
We usually get west Texas sand, but once we got Saharan sand. I had to wash off everything outside, including plants! Hope the sand leaves you alone after this,Sjoerd.
I have the hose ready. We're supposed to get some of that sand too, but so far it's a no-show. I vaguely remember we had pink snow once, but that was due to a volcano outbreak.
The first time I heard about Sahara sand in UK was when I was there in 2015. My nephew told us about it because his car was lightly covered with it. Didn't know it could even travel all the way to Holland!
It really shows how all of the world is connected. In the US we've had Sahara dust and Gobi Desert dust from China. The California fires meant ash in the air in my area of Washington State as well as in the midwest and, if I remember correctly, as far east as New York. Krakatoa caused a chilly summer in Europe and North Amarica. I don't think that a butterfly flapping it's wings in Brazil can cause hurricane in Texas, but big events can spread everywhere.
We had it too, noticed the sky had gone yellow and later it had settled on the roofing slates that are piled in the yard. Some years ago (When I lived in Somerset) we had the ash fallout from the Iceland volcano - Eyjafjallajökull...
