Last summer I posted about some stray puppies that showed up in August when I was mowing grass. They are girls, and I named them Ginger and Ruby, and I think they might be a German Shepherd mix? Other people have other opinions all over the place, so no real idea. I had them spayed in November when they were approximately 6 months old. They are now about 1 year old and around 60-70 lbs.

Ginger is the dominant one, and Ruby is the not-so-bright one. Both are cute and sweet dogs and bouncy.

I am not super good at dog training, so I watched some good videos on training dogs and got a few ideas. I don't have any kind of studio with no distractions. I have all kinds of distractions here. I am working on crate training them, especially for potty training. (My kitchen floor is old and needs replaced, but whatever.) It is easier to clean the tray in the crate than my floor. They are doing pretty good at potty training most of the time.

We are working on "sit", "down", "come", leash walking (no go on heel yet), "shake a paw", "drop it", and maybe a few other things. They are doing pretty good on those, though they prefer to have treats involved when I want them to do something. I think they should do it, treat or no treat. They also go back in their crate most of the time when told--if they are stubborn a spritz or two from a spray bottle of water works. I would like them to have more time out of their crate, but they like to eat holes in the floor, and once they ate a hole in the wall while inside their crate. None of the no-chew products work worth anything. They are a waste of $$$. Hartz used to make a herbal bitter no chew spray and it worked 100% on the first try. They quit making it. It even worked on my horse.

So, in April ANOTHER little homeless puppy showed up on my front porch. She is so cute, and looks like Snoopy but she is not a Beagle. I named her Lisa. I think she is Dalmatian or part Dalmatian. She was quite small when she got here, maybe 5 or 6 weeks old? She is white with black down ears, and some black by her ears on her face, a black nose, and a black patch on her shoulder. She is also getting other black spots. She is very cute and vocal. She lets me know when she needs to go. And she loves to play with the other dogs and our cats. She loves to play in Ruby and Ginger's crate, or anywhere else I let them play. She is very smart, and learned to walk on a leash the first day and to come. Now she is as big as my rat Terrier Louie. I think she will be medium sized about like my Border Collie Buddy? She was sick about a week, and I thought I might loose her, but God blessed and healed her. I had tried all kinds of home remedies and herbs, but she kept on vomiting. When I was praying, God suggested coconut oil, and it worked. I gave her small amounts on my finger until she did not need it. I have no idea what made her so sick.

They are all having fun playing together...
