Good Saturday morning all. Currently 27°C and with the humidity it feels like 34°C.
I'm inside having a cool down from my lawn cutting, it sure it HOT!
I had 2 mourning dove babies in my greenhouse this morning, so I had to carefully get them out. Their Mama was sitting watch on the fence post and tended to them as soon as I got them outside. It was cute.
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 24°C and overcast. We are going to have a thunderstorm shortly. Radar shows it hitting here in about half an hour.
I've already walked the dog and secured things in the yard so we are ready. And the garden is definitely ready for some rain!
I have a bunch of housework to do so its probably a good thing that its going to rain for a few hours!
Have a great day all :)

Happy Monday to you all! We are looking forward :)suspicious:) to a full week of temperatures in the low 100's, tapering off to the low 80's-high 70's at night. Cats and chickens are doing fine, with the chickens having large fans in each coop and cats, being cats, have found comfortable places to spend the afternoons.
I'm dusting today. Where does the dust come from with the house closed up tighter than a drum?

Good Monday evening all. Currently 19°C and sunny with a lovely breeze.
We had thunderstorms overnight, so everything is well watered. And the temperatures were much nicer for working outside today. I had a great day!
Garden beans with grilled steaks for supper today YUM
Heading out to the garden soon.
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday afternoon all. Currently 24°C and sunny. It was another beautiful day with no humidity so great for working outside. I got lots done today.
Dinner is cooking and we are almost ready to leave for the rink. The garden will have to wait.

Good Wednesday afternoon all. Currently 26°C and sunny. Weatherman says we might get some rain tonight.
I picked a good handfull of 'Grape' tomatoes yesterday and the first cucamelon. Still watching my slicers so I can have my bacon and tomato sandwiches. I have no idea which variety will be ready to pick first! I'm hoping for a 'Paul Robeson' or 'Kelloggs Breakfast'.
My Baker Creek seed order came in so I am ready for next years garden :)

Good morning to you all! Our kitchen smells so good this morning. I've been jarring the herbs that were hanging to dry, and in removing small ones from stems and plucking the larger leaves, like basil, the whole room was perfumed. This is one of my favorite kitchen tasks. I save small attractive glass jars and label them. Folks get really enthused about receiving a jar of home-grown, air dried herb.
Hope you all have a happy and fragrant day!

Good Thursday afternoon all. Currently 27°C and sunny. There is a nice breeze, as well as a chance of a thunderstorm.
Was out watering the garden a while ago, and gave the tomatoes a little pep talk. It's time they ripened! Bacon was on sale this week so I stocked up and ready for a nice big tomato!
We are heading to the rink shortly.
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 17°C and mostly cloudy.
I'm up, have walked the dog, watered the garden and vacuumed the pool. Now I am finally sitting down to my coffee.
Lots to do today ... grass to cut and trim, plants to stake in the veggie garden, and the back flower garden to get under control. It really is a mess out there!
Have a great day all :)

36 C here today. It's about the fifth day in a row. Not quite as hot as the heat dome last year ( 42 C) but warm enough. Our normal lows are not happening which are missed. I think I'm going to melt. I don't know how some of you folks that live in hot areas manage. Two more days and then hopefully it will break.

Thunderstorm risks tonight which always make me uneasy when it is hot and dry. There are some fires near our little town from some lightening two days ago. They've asked everyone to be ready with essentials on the "just encase" note. Our "go box" is almost done. And I always have a fully packed suitcase with essentials. That has come in handy more than a few times with illness or injuries. I'm optomistic that we will be fine, but it never hurts to listen to sage advice and be prepared.

Angus is loving laying on the cool kitchen floor in front of the box fan. Must be awful to have a fur coat. By 10 AM he is ready to be an inside dog. He likes going out to the garden with me at 6 am.

Steamed cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce are ready for dinner, and the pork chops just need a date with the BBQ. So now time for a sit and have a cool drink before venturning outside.

Yesterday was problematic. We had a call from the local food pantry manager, asking if we could bring in any fresh produce that was extra. We are in a drought, and this time of year the garden pretty well shuts down and we won't have much until fall. He was disappointed, and explained that with the rising price of food, they were getting new clients and running low on supplies. He thanked us for former donations and asked that we keep the pantry in mind when the garden starts to produce again.
The pantry has never ever asked for anything, so we felt badly about saying "we can't." Tomorrow we'll stop by with a check, hoping that will help. You'd think that local churches could take up a special offering, but no.
Sorry to be a downer today, but this is still bothering us.

Great move Jane. That will also help.
    Yeah, good solution. Chapeau.

That is so nice of you MG! I'm sure the food pantry will appreciate it!
Good Monday afternoon all. Currently 28°C and sunny. Weatherman says we will get a bit of rain later, but I am doubtful. It sure would save me a lot of work watering the garden though!
I worked hard today in this heat, and I am beat! Its going to be an early night!
Have a good night all :)
