Hello all! I'm MarbleQueen! I've recently come into the wonderful addiction that is houseplants! I'm so excited to have found this forum. Googling information is one thing, but asking fellow plant hobbyists and friends for information and advice is 100x better. I'm looking forward to posting and chatting with everyone!
Hello MQ. welcome. We all have garden skills and since the outside gardening season is about to come to a seasonal conclusion, I’m starting amaryllis soon. Many here have various indoor plants . What are some of your plants ?
Thank you! I haven't branched out to outdoors yet, haha. I'm still a beginner, for sure. Right now I have a Golden Pothos (my first) and a Chocolate Soldier Succulent. Just the other day I rescued 2 plants from the store: a Dracaena Compacta (who was pretty scorched by the direct sun) and a Monstera Adansonii, who was bone dry and water deprived. My step-daughter has a Cape Sundew plant that I'm trying my best with, lol
Your have a really great start with the plants listed… most rescues are in need of a little extra attention generally pull thru. This is a good time of year to obtain rescues as many big box stores have them. Good for you as your house plants are very nice to start with especially during winter. The weather reports are showing cold front coming your way soon.. Hope you were safe and no damage from Ian. Your location is in the south what zone are you in and I would like to encourage you to look into an amaryllis purchase for holiday blooms. Grow them inside. Now is a good time to start the bulbs as most big box stores have a good selection of bulbs ready to bloom in 6-10 weeks inside.
Pacnorwest, those are beautiful! I'll definitely look into them, thank you! We received no damage from Ian which I'm thankful for, but my heart goes out to those who were impacted. I love my plants so much and I'm definitely hoping the Monstera and Dracaena will pull through! I'm not entirely sure which zone, every map I look at seems to differ. It's either Zone 8 or Zone 9. Netty, thank you so much! I'm happy to be here!
Welcome Marble Queen, I'm also from the South East. Zigs used to be from the South, but moved here to the South East a few years ago
We may need a bit of getting used to as we both have a weird sense of humour We live in the UK in Kent - where do you live? It is always a good idea to put that in your profile as we tend to garden according to our country.
Good luck with all your plants MQ. I'm sure they will begin to thrive in your care. Great to have you here with us.
Tetters, definitely a fan of a weird sense of humor, haha. And that's good advice, I'll make that update! I am currently in the Panhandle of Florida. eileen and Frank, thank you so much for the welcome! I'm certainly hoping my plants will thrive! It's my goal to become the resident crazy plant lady in my neck of the woods, lol
Hello and welcome to GS @MarbleQueen I only have a Christmas cactus as a house plant, don't have much room for them.
