A bit of nostalgia, I may have mentioned before.

I've always liked these recordings from the fifties.

I know a bit about this one. The trombone was added at a later recording session. Not only do I think it spoils it a bit, but to me, it seems a bit out of tune.

Same singer, 56 years later. Impressive although he has difficulty holding some long tones.

    Another song, this from 1962.

Some singer song writers can carve a career out of one song.

This in 2020, John Gummo at 81.

I've both 45s in one of my jukeboxes.
I can play both on my leccy piano

    Original

I remember Kathy Kirby singing this version on TV. I was only 5 and i thought that if i wanted to become a singer i would have to have great teeth like her. I can sing but i didn't become a professional singer.

I've been a fan of Miles Davis since my teens. His style changed over the decades, but each year, his fan bass grew, year on year.
He could see merit in some pop tunes and if he thought he could do something with them, he'd record them.
No one would have associated him with this tune before recorded it.
He then made it his own.

The improvisation that starts at 1.40 to about 2.12 could bring tears to your eyes. A good example of his "less is more" style.

This was recorded at Jeff Lynne's "Wembley or Bust" concert at Wembley Stadium in 2017, in front of 60,000 people who each paid £110 to get in,

    That's £6,600,000.

He opened the show by saying, "Thanks for coming."

    I bet!

    Some facts
    The "Women in Black."
    Amy Langley, cello
    Jess Cox, cello
    Rosie Langley, violin.

I'm impressed how just the three of them can sound much the same as the whole string section of the BBC Concert Orchestra, used on the band's BBC TV show. There's technology for you.

The female singer is Melanie Taylor Mcdonald, she would have been 48 at the time, she's married to Milton McDonald, the guitarist on the extreme left.

I recorded the concert, I've four others of theirs.

What also impressed me was the fact that the audience was made up of a range of ages, from kids to people who must be retired and from the shots of many of them, they all had a good time.

This is a collection of clips from the film "The Rebound."

Most people will remember the version by, Paul Young, but this is the original version, Daryl Hall wrote it.
