I'm brining a chicken for the first time. Tonight will be rotisserie chicken, with garden veggies. Pickled beets, baked Gold Nugget Buttercup squash with caramalized onion, cauliflower with cheese sauce and green beans.

This looks like a wonderful American Thanksgiving Feast. What a lovely table setting. Do tell....what are the various casseroles and who won the casserole competition?

Well Dad is seen eyeing the cranberry sauce. She is eyeing Facebook I imagine. Sweet potatoes and yellow squash and green beans lead the casseroles. Bacon wrapped stuffed dates in paprika or bourbon sauces are left and right. My brother was tasked with ham forward left and I the smoked turkey in the forward point.

That is quite the feast. Wonderful job of smoking a turkey - we've been pondering that one. It would have been difficult to chose between the casseroles. :)

Burritos for supper. Hubby makes the filling with his own seasoning and our garden tomato reduction. I make the fresh corn tortillias. Guacamole, lettuce, tomato, salsa and sour cream on the side. And of course a Margaritta :)

Benjamin Franklin, IMHO, suggested the Turkey for the National Bird based on his stomach. In those days it was all over a wood coals fire. Smoked with hickory at a high temp and an oiled skin I could only suggest spice it with garlic and onion and try a turkey leg afterwards. The leg taste is the real test of how to cook a turkey.
