I have been thinking about this approach quandary you pose. Well honey, think of sitting on a fence and looking down at bulls and horses. Usually fences are high enough that the livestock can't jump over it. Idiots just would run around the fence, looking for a way out. Being idiots, they wouldn't figure out a gate.
Roaring with laughter. That is patently clear. Well I like livestock, especially cows. However they can all be dangerous, so one must stay alert around then. Rodeo is a pleasure to watch, but we never had to ride bulls or unbroken horses. My grandfather raised and trained horses for a while, but I have no idea how he did it. Anyway, so I sort of drifted here a bit but the original posting was a good one.
Sjoerd… What kind of horses did your grandfather breed and train? Rodeo’s are so much fun to watch so many talented cowboys and cowgirls. The bull riding is crazy.. barrel racing was a favourite . last summer someone’s bull got out… in my garden... he was mean. Even my horses were scared of him…
Hiya Pac. I am not sure what kind they were. Lightening burnt down the family home when I was just a bairn and with it went all sorts of papers, the family bible with our family tree on my mother’s side and deeds and business things. It was apparently a devastating event and for me, with my older family members dead I do not have any way of finding about that. I do have some things and old pictures in a box. I will see what I can find and get back to you if I find anything. I recall that they were trained to prance or walk in a certain way, or perhaps it was their posture. I do have some farm pics given to me before my moeder passed away. I will see.
Sjoerd.. the fire must have been devastating. Such a traumatic experience leaves a hole in our hearts. There’s no need to look thru boxes for info on the horses. I just assumed you knew. There are only a few breeds that prance and can be trained , addition to their natural gate - what is called Dressage. Horses dancing in a way is so beautiful and trainers are few and far between today . A popular breed for Dressage today are Andalusians . They are a special breed that were saved during WWll by the American General George Patton. Long history to many horses from Europe.
I suspect one should never approach a raccoon from any side either. However, a labradoodle can be approached from any direction. Just be sure to bring a towel to wipe of the slobbery kisses.
So sorry to read this, Sjoerd. All that history lost, and all those necessary papers too! Those horses couldn't by any chance be Tennessee Walkers? I mean, if your grandfather lived anywhere near Tennessee it might be logical?
