This was end-of-bolt so was on deep sale (my favorite price LOL). Just the valence, so the view of the duck yard is unobstructed. The kitchen window gets a different curtain for each holiday so we don't gat bored. Only takes an hour to make.
What a good idea Daniel - I suppose for people with no sewing machine or inclination to get one (like me) a swag could do a similar job. Two rings in the corners and Bob's yer uncle
At end of season, the curtain can be washed and put away for next year. Then the next one takes its place. I have an order in for a Chinese New Year theme for late January.
I like it! You're so good at decorating and finding stuff to decorate with. Love your idea of changing curtains every holiday. We bought our Christmas curtains years ago at an end-of-season sale. I did something similar (not holiday-themed) to what you did in our bathroom. I bought a shower curtain (on sale because the colours weren't modern any more), cut it in three and made curtains out of it for laundry room and bathroom. Easy to clean, dries fast and won't get ruined by damp environment.
We are still in the Chinese New Year season. I live in a multi holiday household . These curtains celebrate that. This is actually not the right zodiac animal. Now is the year of the rat. I could only find tigers (which are 2022 then I think in 2034) It's the thought that counts . I don't think I want rats in the kitchen anyway LOL. These are sewn with a "golden" metallic thread, to bring luck for prosperity this year. Not sure what's next. Valentines day comes too soon. Maybe next year. Cinco de Mayo?
You're so good at making everyday life a celebration! You can join us Norwegians in celebrating fastelavn in February, or maybe Constitution Day on May 17th? Thanks @Droopy for that joyous link! I would welcome a fastelavnsris holiday! I could not locate a specialty fabric (Chinese New Year is difficult enough!) but maybe a combination of colorful panels, each celebrating a different aspect of fastelavnsris, would work.
