We lifted the first spud. What a thrill. It is sort of like prospecting for gold. In the begining we just wanted to dig under a plant to check on how the tubers were developing. Unforttely they were of eating size, so up came the first plant, the Chèrie (a new one for us). On the foto, it is the reddish one. To make a balanced appraisal, we dug under a Harlequin plant. They were large enough as well, so we selected one and lifted it. Then there were the Broad Beans— we have already had some harvests, so this will be one of the last. At home, they had to be processed. Then the supper.
This is fabulous! I'm so happy for you both! Hubby always says we eat with our eyes first, then our palate. That meal looks fabulous on both scales. I recently learned that I can grow broad beans- they are very new to me. Maybe I can try some next year. Beautiful dish!!
