Just curious if anyone here has experienced some of your pictures of your garden or plants on the internet ?
I googled Dracaena flowers and my pictures popped up on google. The pics lead to another web site that uses more of my pics. I guess what you put on the internet stays on the internet and could spread forever.
I don’t mind at all I think of it as a compliment rather than infringement.

I've found a few of my pictures on the web, but they always link back to GardenStew. I'm ok with that.
Good Wednesday evening all. Currently 21°C and sunny. Another busy day on the job then home to get the puppy to the vet for shots. We walked into the office and there was a waiting room full of puppies. Tried to sit down and Thunder got all rambunctious with 2 Rottweiler puppies and then the nurse came to take him back for his shots and nail trim. Thats when all heck broke loose! He pulled his leash trying to get away, and when they tried to do his nails he nipped at them, and they were afraid to give him his shots without me there. They came to get me and wanted to muzzle him, all the while telling me that they didn't want his experience to be a bad one. They should have thought of that before they took a puppy away from his owner!! I went into the room and held him and she easily gave him the shot. They said they would not do his nails as he was too worked up. Thunder is only 24 weeks old, not sure why things happened the way they did but I wasn't impressed. I'd never seen this nurse there before, and she didn't seem comfortable at all. Who muzzles a puppy?? Ugh.
Have a good night all :)

Many who post garden pics have found their pics around somewhere else eventually. It’s just the internet continuing our pics to rotate around the internet forever.

Today must have been Vet day. I took Rufus for a check and shots.

I decided a while back to get veterinary insurance. Services are so expensive now. It's also very complicated and corporatized, with tons of marketing. I decided to quit the prior one because she was hard-selling their dog food "partner" and trying to guilt me into buying their dog food. I asked for evidence that it was better, and she said "they know what they are doing! don't you want Rufus to have a safe diet?"

OK enough whining! Rufus got a clean bill of health, no problems. Two shots. He was very nervous. So am I at the doctor!

Daniel I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in city vets too. It’s all about the ka-Ching. Our favorite large animal vet left the state 8 years ago due to the corporate takeovers. He sold out his vet business to new corporate owners and moved to Montana where he can still have his own vet business. He was the best vet we ever had. Miss him. a rare find today.
Give Rufus a big hug from me..:smt023 He was a brave dog today. :smt049 Love Rufus.

It's been on NY Times. Corporations bought out many of the veterinary practices. Also in UK. I read about it in The Guardian. Plus there aren't enough veterinarians, so many practices refuse new patients. The insurance is complicated too. Oh well....

It is a sad state of affairs, Daniel.
The days of James Herriot are long gone, it seems.

James Herriot … I had to look him up and I’m glad I did. ‘All creatures great and small ‘ -series about him and museum all in his name a memory. They don’t make ‘em like that any more. A real Hero.

I've read articles in major news sites. It's shameful / they are shameless, and it's not possible to know who to trust.

For example, heartworm can be devastating.
Heartworm is caused by a mosquito-borne parasite. I can't figure out why they say it's needed 12 months a year. His heartworm + flea + tick prevention costs around $2,000 a year plus required tests for heartworm and liver function.

I don't know if it's worse than medical insurance for people. I spend almost as much for health care for Rufus (a healthy, young dog) as I do for me (an old human) and I see a private-pay cancer specialist at OHSU (about $350, twice a year). I do have medicare, of course, and a discount because it's through my retirement plan.

On a lighter note, today was human-food cooking day. I made two baked dishes using the outdoor oven. One was a roasted tomato sauce to put on rice or pasta. The other is a black bean / tomato / rice / cheese casserole, sort of Mexican style. Lots of garlic in both dishes. I used brown rice for the bean casserole. The cheese topping was designed for tacos, but I like it. Wild rice grain mixture for the roasted tomato sauce. These will be meals for a few days.

I was going to make burritos, but too tired!

Daniel— that was interesting to hear. It is a world that I know nothing about.
