Five days ago I saw the first dagpauwoog — peacock butterfly. Last year I saw it on 9 march. It had flown out of its bivouac and hustled back in when it saw me (no comments please).

Pac—They are indeed so lovely but it is so, so early. I worry.

Here depending on temps in early to mid spring they wake from hibernation. It’s way too cold and early to see them now. It is really puzzling to see one this early.

Great pick Daniel . They are so colorful and eye popping really.. pardon the pun. With all those eyes on their wings to fake out predators usually seen in April May here. We had them all the time I haven’t seem many lately or any other butterflies in a while . I miss them. We have some Tiger swallowtails not as many as seen in the past.

There’s a few pics of different butterflies stored on my computer…didn’t think of public domain pics. I think that’s a great idea.

Been cleaning up space on my computer/iPad to free up storage space and creating short videos some of bees and butterflies , live shots and stills. Garden overall videos of several years compressed into a few minutes for the past couple weeks. My eyeballs are seeing double from all the squinting. purchased a cleaner kit to help clear out double and similar pics and files . Not done yet , it’s a tricky job.

We don't see many of them here, if we do it will be in the summer if it's warm enough.
