Dayak Onions, a native plant from Borneo, which I recently obtained through a seed plant exchange, have begun to bloom. I noticed the flower buds about a week ago, and the flowers started blooming three days ago. typically bloom in the evening, and by morning, only the buds remain, with no sign of the bloomed flowers on the ground or anywhere nearby. In the evening, the flowers bloom again, and this pattern has continued for three days. only plausible I can think of is that a single bud consists of cluster of buds.

Do you grow these onions to eat or for their flower? It is pretty BTW.

Thank you Cayuga Morning, yes I grow them to eat and did not expect to see flowers on them.

    Thank you Sjoerd, Zigs.

It is still flowering every late afternoon come rain or strong sunshine. This is how they look like this morning and the evidence of cluster is clearer now but I still do not see any of the withered flowers anywhere on the ground.

@KK Ng mice will eat the fallen flower buds, rats too, that's probably why there are none on the ground in the morning.

AnnieKay thanks for your input. I can confidently state that there are no rats here. My other plants do bloom as well but I often find their withered flowers on the ground, which suggests they have not been consumed.
