Happy Wednesday, it was rainy all day yesterday but I went out to look at plants with my friends. We went to Lowes so I didn't really get anything. I am waiting for the plant sale this weekend and then I want to visit some local nurseries afterward. Got lots of crocheting done though since there was no gardening to be done in the torrential rain we had yesterday evening D:

Happy Thursday! It's not a bad start to the day! A brisk walk to work, though it was sprinkling a little, it was more misty than rainy. Today is going to be a good day!!

Good Friday morning all. Currently 1°C and sunny. There is patchy frost outside, and it got colder than it was supposed to.
My little greenhouse was out of propane, so moved all my seedlings to the heated garage last night. I'm so glad I did, because it was 0°C in there when I got up. I'll move them all back out in a little while.
I have the day off today, so I'm hoping to get a bunch of yard work done. I also have an appointment for an oil change this afternoon and it just so happened to be down the street from a very nice garden center. Coincidence? haha
Have a great day all :)

Happy Friday everyone! Got walking club, coffee hour and GARDEN club today. I love my local library, I'm so glad they do all the things that they do because without them my village would be dead quiet :(

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 7°C and overcast. Weatherman says were will have a sunny day, but it really looks like rain to me.
I went to a huge garden centre yesterday, and can you believe I didn't buy a single thing? I was looking at the Hostas, but I had them all and that got me to thinking about the overhaul I want to do in the back flower garden and how I wasn't sure what to plant there yet. So hopefully that is the chore today ... to clean up the back bed and do some dividing and moving of perennials and then decide what I want to plant there. Its also grass cutting day so there is no shortage of things to do.
Have a great day all :)

I gotz news !! Kinda shocking, to me, anyway
Last Tuesday about 9pm, I went into the kitchen to get a drink and saw red and blue flashing lights reflected in the glass on my kitchen door. Two fire trucks (no smoke or fire) Three Cop cars, two ambulances and LOTS of yelling: "Go, go go !!" and lots of unintelligible yelling, screaming and crying.

Come to find out that the man in the house on the opposite corner from my house had gotten into an argument with his first cousin, outside in the street, and his cousin shot him twice in the side. He took off in his vehicle and the man who was shot flat lined. They worked on him for 40 minutes, then slowly drove away. No flashing lights, just drove off. His funeral was today at the Church across from my house.

I didn't know him personally but, in the South, in small towns especially, everyone honks and waves to their neighbors and friends. He stopped to complement my gardening a few times so, I know who he was.

The Cousin turned himself in the next morning because: "Dead man walking". He was armed and sure to have been shot if he were to be hunted down.

@Anniekay what a scary thing to happen & so close to your home. Yikes. Lock your doors, double lock your doors.

I had similar experience out here in a country setting in the middle of nowhere. While outside after dark with a flashlight hunting slugs & plopping them in soapy water protecting my hostas, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I jumped a mile. It was a policeman. Well … I had my iPod on listening to music. He told me to get inside that they were out searching the area for a man who stabbed another man . OK. Stuff happens… :smt018 Never again will I hunt slugs wearing iPods at midnight.

 I would've jumped a mile and threw the slug infested water at him !! He. could've at least flashed his lit flashlight around where you could see it.

Five years I've been here and there was only one other issue: Broad daylight, some young guy took off with someone's riding mower and was caught stealing it by the owner. The Cops chased him as he ran on foot. I heard gravel being crunched next to the house, my dog went nuts. I looked out the front window and there's cop just feet from my window with both hands on his pistol pointing it into my yard. The guy had jumped my fence, ran down the gravel path between the flower bed and the house, then laid down between my car and my potting shed.

My house was surrounded by cop cars and the Cop on the south side of the house could clearly see the guy laying there.

So the guy sees the cop coming through my gate, runs toward my back gate and another cop comes up the slope and in the gate, gun trained on the guy. So he was caught and taken in for "grand theft- John Deere rider !!" :smt044:smt044:smt044

But nobody actually bothers me; I got cameras all over the outside of the house.

OMG.. Another scary story a close call story of police activity and on your property. It’s good you have a dog to protect you - bark warnings. Sometimes they bark at the least little thing , but most the time it’s a warning , or maybe just a doggie - cookie call. Stay safe and security cams is a must to check areas without going around to see for our selves. Have several around here too. Mostly to check outside at night for coyotes. Sometimes raccoons in the yards at night can be dangerous for the dogs.

@Anniekay OMG, that is so scary!!!
Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there!
Good Sunday morning all. Currently 3°C and sunny. There was a frost warning last night, and I was up checking the greenhouse temperature several times throughout the night, but it was fine. Hopefully that is the last one.
Yesterday turned out to be a busy day, but not the day I had planned. I got the front patio furniture out of the shed, which led to cleaning of the shed. Then a friend of DH's stopped by, and he helped me fix the bumper on my car and start the small lawn tractor which I couldn't get started. I'm so thankful for hubbys friends that check up on me and help me with all these little tasks. Then a surprise visit from the grandkids with Mothers Day gifts! I did get a very small portion of the back garden started, and the rest of the grass cut. It was a productive day, and ended with a BBQ'd steak with asparagus from the garden. Yummy! Also got the new solar lights put up on the garden fence and it looked so nice all lit up. Today, taking my son to a friends house to cut down a tree that is leaning on their barn, and then home to work on the back garden. Its going to be another great day :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 4°C and clear.
I'm back to work full time starting today, and I'm really going to miss my 3 day work weeks! I liked having the extra days at home to help me with the extra jobs I now have around here, but I feel almost caught up and I could use the extra money.
The hardware store has deck stain on sale, so I'll be stopping in to pick some up today on my way home. DD gets the task of all the painting/staining jobs around the house this summer.
If only I could talk her into weeding the gardens! haha
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 11°C and clear. There is a gorgeous red sunrise happening, so I'm not sure if that means we will get rain later? It was the firest night we were able to sleep with the windows open.
The deck stain had too many colors to chose from so I thought I'd better bring home a sample to see what matched ours. Today I can pick up the stain after work. I also have a few people coming for plants that I advertised on a local buy/sell page. It will be another busy day!
    Have a great one :)
