What’s going on here? Well, there are two plants in the woods that have similar leaves, one is edible and the other is poisonous. They both smell nice in their own way.

    Any ideas?

    Another hint:

A final image and you have the whole story:

The one is a wild garlic and the other is a Lily-of-the-Valley. The Wild Garlic is edible.

Wow Sjoerd. Those do look alike!

There's a trial in Australia now. A woman cooked poisonous mushrooms in Beef Wellington, killing several family members. She claims it was a mistake. I don't know... But people often get sick from poisonous plants and fungi. I guess they must taste good?

Tansy ragwort is another one. It looks similar to tansy, but can cause fatal veno-occlusive disease of the liver in humans and various animals. It's also a bad one.

    Good call

I've been eating forraged food since I was a Ziglet but I still take care to make sure I've got the right plants.

On a previous forum there was a young lad who posted a pic asking what was wrong with his carrot. The pic showed not a carrot but either a Hogweed or a Hemlock root that had self seeded into his veg plot

I broke moderator protocol and emailed him direct, concerned that he'd poison his entire family. He replied that his Mrs had tasted a bit of it, found it very bitter and threw it away.

I'm guessing it was a Hogweed and not a Hemlock then, fortunately.
