The ground squirrels that have been tearing up the pastures and garden… are back again…Caught two Belding ground squirrels using ‘The Squirrelinator Trap’ … 2 at once . That’s 2 down and ??? To go….

Let the Squirrel Wars Begin. Bringing in the cavalry…

Why Belding ground squirrels are such a huge problem .

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 14°C and sunny. Still some smokey smog in the air but not as thick.
I'm up bright and early to get started on my heavy work load today. I'm having my coffee, then I'm going to take Thunder for his walk, and start on putting up the back gazebo canopy and patio furniture out. Then I want to get going on the veggie garden planting and there is grass to cut, brush to burn, flowers to plant ... oh my, so much to do!
Have a great day all :)

How to pronounce Sjoerd… I think I finally got it. :smt023 Sounds like Sure’ in English… it’s a popular name in the Netherlands. Sjoerd you speak several languages ? Well here English anyway. I’m so glad you’re here. :headbang:When I see you here it’s always like a visit from an old friend.

So … Sure’ in English and Sjoerd in Dutch… just a tidbit of info..

Guess what ? Today my house cleaning is done . Time to whip a new coat of paint on the walls. Easier to do in summers it dries faster than winter which takes days to dry due to the humidity factor.

@Anniekay I did finally hang some laundry up , not outside way too many bugs… but it is also summer and warm enough to hang dry clothing inside during summers. Instead of running the dryer I’m saving a little electricity letting the clothing air dry. While the battery op Roomba vacuums the floors then runs back to the charging station. Mm-mm One thing cancels out the other. Save electricity no dryer use yet Roomba recharges thru the electrical outlet. :smt021

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast. Or is that wildfire smog again?
Yesterday was very productive. I had the gazebo installed and the patio furniture out before 7am. Then I moved on to getting the garden planted and the grass cut. I didn't completely finish either, but I'll get to that today. I also got the hammock hung and had a wee nap in it.
Today I'm going to finish planting the veggies, and get the rest of the grass cut. Then it will be time to pressure wash all the equipment. I keep looking at the mowers thinking that hubby would be angry at how dirty they are and so I'm going to clean them. There actually might be time for a little bit of relaxing at the end of the day today :)

Gazebo ? Sounds lovely napping in a hammock. And your gazebo sounds like a great garden space. I have a small one over the lid of the concrete water holding tank. We are on well water so why waist a concrete pad a section in the garden10’x6’ destined to behold a gazebo. Right? I bolted the four corners down with concrete bolts . Just enough space for 2 chairs. Assembled the top and sides. It was a nice shady spot to sit and daydream on hot summer days . I included hose misters attached to the top section of the roof to keep cool.

There are so many different styles of gazebos today some great kit's and several styles for everyone.
Congratulations for assembling your Gazebo and hope you enjoy it thruout the summer season. Cheers.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 15°C and overcast. Weatherman says we are getting rain today.
Going back to work today to get a rest from the weekend haha I sure got a lot done at home, and I was exhausted last night. Kinda hoping I get a rain day, or at least half of one today so I can come home and relax a little. Lots to do at work too, but at least there I get a helper.
Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 13°C and overcast. Its still a little dark out, but boy are the birds singing happily today! I always find that a nice start to the day.
Off to work again, and this morning I'm working on the herb garden. Its overgrown with weeds and needs compost and mulch. Lots to do but thats where I want to start.
Tonight I have a friend coming to get some tomato plants and I haven't seen him for a while so it will be fun catching up.
Have a great day all :)

Good morning! It isn't raining, for a change, so we may get to go out and do some work which is badly needed. All this rain certainly has made the weeds grow, and the roses need deadheading. My husband is a novice gardener and sometimes doesn't know a weed from a wanted plant, so I think he'll do the deadheading. He can tell a spent rose from a bloom!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast.
We had a nice rain shower yesterday afternoon right after I planted my cabbage and cauliflower that saved me some watering time. Garden is almost done, only have the canning tomatoes and pumpkins left to plant. Sure is late this year!
Off to work, where it is a grass cutting day.
Have a great day all :)

Welcome to the monsoon season in Texas! We had another downpour storm early this morning, and our yard is beginning to resemble a great lake. So, no outside work, not even deadheading roses. We'll follow Sjoerd and do housework today. If the rain keeps up we'll have the cleanest house in the county!
