Anniekay what a yummy harvest. Especially watermelons our season is to short for those . I am anxious to see how yours turn out. Beans are so fun to grow they are easygoing and don’t expect a lot. You’ll know soon enough if they are bush or climbers. :fingerscrossed:

I watered trimmed a few shrubs and cleaned the small areas in the garden where the squirrels just love to mess up. Trimmed a couple weeping elms .
I went to check the ground squirrel trap and it was gone. The size was surprising to see a 4’x4’x4” cage was literally moved from its origional spot and completely moved across to the west pasture. I suspect a bobcat moved it into a safer area next to the plants for cover while lunch was on his mind. Tracks left behind and scratch marks on the earth was his calling card.

I reset the trap in another area where the ground squirrels have left evidence of another area under siege. Huge mound's, farrows and tunnels deep enough to sprain an ankle. So hoping these Belding ground squirrels have left the area for the time being since the bobcat has been hunting in this area again. This is the second time the trap was tampered with , and the trap is not damaged, yet. :fingerscrossed:

Then finished up using the blower to clear the driveway and patios of needles. Ooo those darn needles can stop littering … already..:dizzy:

OMG those strawbs and lettuce. So yummy and lots of tasty fresh lettuce. I miss that a lot. Yummmm …Makes my mouth water . I know you enjoy all the tasty veggies every year from your garden. I grew a lot of carrots for the horses. You haven’t seen slobber til you’ve fed horses fresh lettuce , carrots and watermelon rinds.
And you need to wear a raincoat to survive the slobbery waterfall . Not from the horses … from me looking at your pics.

Nice to hear you finally had a haircut today. I thought your hair was getting a bit shaggy. Many thanks to your bride for keeping you presentable…:smt023 :sete_013:

Spent part of the morning pruning the tops of quinces along the side fence.

It's remarkable how the big tree in next door's garden (the one on the left) the one on the right is in a garden beyond that)

The new owner of the house, (a Hong Kong Chinese doctor rents it out), had it decimated in February,

    But it's still thriving.

I pruned off some of the branches of the holly tree in the garden behind ours, which were encroaching over our fence.

The silver birches in the garden the other side, got a few more branches removed.
We'll get fewer leaves from them falling in our garden in the autumn.

I also gave this camellia a bit of a haircut. It needs more removed as it's starting to push a rhodo out over the lawn. But I'll do it later in the year.

I removed most of the seed pods from this wisteria and tidied the border.

    I've filled the green bin.

The final job was cleaning the inside of the shed. I've so much in there, I have to almost empty it to do it.

The tea-house needs a wash down, but that can wait until tomorrow.

What lovely strawberries @Sjoerd ! Makes my mouth water. Is ta loggs anything like tak tak?

I think your cover beans will grow @Anniekay . Seems like 3 years isn't too terribly old. This winter I attempted to germinate some of my 48 yo wedding bouquet. Nothing happened but why not try?

I've not heard of corn chamomile @Logan or at least I don't recall. I'm interested in seeing what it does for you. I've only grown German chamomile. Glads are such beautiful standout flowers. Will be so colorful soon!

Beautiful garden pics everyone. :smt023:setc_005::sete_013:This time of year is especially a treat to see all the beautiful blooms veggies and all the side shots that are so entertaining. Only for many of us garden nuts where passion exceeds the joy we find so much to appreciate in nature while sharing our visions.

Would we have a chance of growing Watermelons over here @Anniekay ?:) We can grow Pumkins and Zucchini.

Good Strawb @Sjoerd  Your beans are ahead of ours but we do have some small Tuinbonnen :)

Just started on the maincrop Strawberries :)

Grapes are coming on too, these are white ones with pips, I've just planted a red seedless one to grow alongside it but it only has one bunch so far.

@Zigs I think, if you get the small refrigerator sized, two person size, you could grow some in high summer. You would probably need to start them in pots in a warm sunny spot, though. Sugar baby and Early Season Treat are 65-75 days.

Excellent Annie :) I've found Sugar Baby on Amazon for £2.99, will get them for next season and start them in pots in the potting shed. Will have the turf wall finished by next year to keep the evil North wind off them :)

@Zigs , I LOVE your grapevines full of grapes. Yummy.

I would think if you can grow pumpkins and zucchinis, you should be able to grow watermelons. There are a lot of varieties to choose from. Charles Dowding in the UK grows some small watermelons. He has a you tube channel.

My newer grapevines are doing nicely. I have not seen grapes on them yet, but they are growing well. My old grapevine has new growth and grapes this year. It was here when I moved here almost 40 years ago.

We have had very heavy rains still. Occasionally we get a break in the clouds with a bit of sunshine.

DS has to go back to work tomorrow. But we do have the ditch up close enough to the house to start to connect the new pipes. That one spot in the bushes is almost cleared. And DS bought the pipes. He was explaining to me how to put them in and connect them. We need a piece like some kind of adapter to connect at the house end, and every store with plumbing is closed for the evening. If he has time in the morning, he will get that thing and put the first piece on for me. I hope he has time to do that. The piece from the house is somewhat bent, and that is why he needs the adapter.

I found a couple more tomato plants this afternoon, and put them in my garden.
