We are growing some paprika outside this year. They always do well in the greenhouse, but we have the tom test this season. Fingers crossed. Yes, those pap chips are delicious…addictive actually.
Today we had Peppered Mackeral with Cous Cous with a selection of various beans, freshly harvested this morning and given to us from a kind allotment holder who has a plot behind our garden. We get first 'picks' of everyone's excess produce at this time of year....a real perk of living where we do.
Today, as most week-ends we'll have a joint of meat, it's usually either beef or lamb, the latter more often, as it is today. We'll have it with Jersey new potatoes and mixed veg. A half-leg will last us two days, as we'll have it cold on Sunday, with more potatoes and salad. Meat is getting very expensive. I bought today's joint in M&S, their selection of meat has got smaller and smaller over the years. This was the only lamb joint they had, when I went shopping on Thursday. Usually, I buy it in Sainsburys, where I was going next, but they don't always have any, so I wasn't taking a chance as the weather was very warm. I wasn't surprised the joint had a security tag on it. It was 1.25kg and £26.
