Textbook Tom

    This tom I have had my eye on in the greenhouse and in the fruitbowl here at home for quite a while. It is like an old friend…but tonight I am sacrificing it into a salad. Poor guy. It breaks my heart to do this. He looks so perfect— just like a textbook tom. Farewell, dear friend. Sniff, sniff.

    Annie— that was one of the trial toms. It looked great but the flavour was a bit mild.
