It is again time to make the rounds to ask for donations from my fellow gardeners at both complexes.

it was an unusual begin this year. Normally we get a couple of courgettes and perhaps some beans….and promises for the future.
This year we had three crates of varied veg. I was over the moon. The chap at the Food Bank was surprised.

Things are growing very, very well this year. Hopefully I will be able to pick up veg and fruit until the middle of October.

If you folks have a Food Bank near you I would urge you to give any extra vege or fruit to the Food Bank.

I have a neighbor who has six kids, 12 grandkids and I don't know how many great grand kids. She gets all my surpluses and she invites me to their barbecues during the summer. She's such a wonderful person and her family can sure use anything extra they can get.

You have to give to receive !! :D

I don't have extra fruit and veg to give but i have given 15kg bags of dried dog food to food banks, they sent the wrong one and we could keep it, i didn't want to use it because of the formula.

Loggie— I imagine that it will be appreciated. I know that our Food Bank offer things other than food to folks.

I give my neighbors a lot of grief, does that count ? And I get a lot of insults thrown back at me, so I guess I'm doing my part.:setc_008:

We buy extra food items in store to place in their food bank boxes which are placed at the exit points, we do this all year round.

We also take apples and pears round to our neighbours too . One neighbour down our lane shares his beans, courgettes and marrows.

Food banks are such special places. Our local fb is a gathering place for locals of all income levels. A real melting pot, if you will. I benefit so much from the relationships with my fellow volunteers. I work every Wednesday, cleaning, organizing and taking in loads of food for my rural community members. Neighbors stop in with boxes of produce to share for the locals. They bring clothing. The spirit in which things are given is a gift to behold. Taking in the generosity of my neighbors is a good and healthy thing. Seeing families be fed is a healthy thing. Caring about those with less than us is a healing thing.

You guys do really well. Marlin even made a plea on here one year. It is good to help other folks if you have extra food or other things. good work, Columbia.
