I have the splitter so I can use a hose as well as the timer. the timer is just screwed into a short hose, and a longer hose screwed into the timer.

Picked some more white currants and watered the hanging baskets.
Had to go to the fracture clinic this morning to get a full plaster cast for my lower arm, that took all morning going backwards and forwards from the x-ray and consultant and set it properly.

@Logan yikes sounds like a stressful morning. Takes care of that arm. Be careful too. Accidents are the major cause of seniors serious injuries. I can’t tell you how many times I have fallen the last few years…the worst injuries was when I had fell and broke the right ankle and tore the ligament on the left foot, from just from one step down. Now every thing I do I think about every step , and try not to become distracted and concentrate on not falling. A wrong step or trips can cause severe injuries .
Take your time to rest and heal . Sending healing blessings your way.

    I harvested some figs.

    IMG_3695.jpeg

Old Spanish Proverb: "A fig is ripe when it has a hangman’s neck (droops), a mourner’s eye (oozes honeydew from the eye) and a penitent’s robe (skin tears)" (figs4fun.com). I pick if soft, heavy, droopy, skin tears.

And some blackberries, my favorite fruit!
    IMG_3683.jpeg

Those are the variety "Triple Crown". Thornless.

    And

    IMG_3696.jpeg

The tomatoes are "Extreme Dwarf". Always my earliest. Not productive but appreciated anyway.

I continued puttering with squash plants.

While I was watering, Rufus was running around barking at nothing in particular. That's exhausting work.

Well that’s ok I think I know you too… we have a few things in common for, sure.

Speaking of ground bee eradication techniques PSA included, I took another can of ground bee spectracide out to the south pasture and sprayed the ground bee opening to the nest at dusk and pushed the 8” straw nozzle down in the bees opening to the nest. I can’t lie .. I was scared…it was dark.. all bundled up and face and eyes coved for bee protection . It wasn’t one of my best add lib looks and I made it back to the house with no problems. However , I duct taped my sleeve cuffs to the thick gloves so bees couldn’t get thru to my arms in the space between my gloves and sleeves. After spraying the bees nest in the ground I came back inside struggled and struggled to get free from my gloves that were duct taped to my sleeves almost bonded to the fabric. Somehow I managed to basically handcuff myself with duct tape and with a bit more struggling using a carpet knife to cut the duct tape bond that sealed any stray bees out , I finally got one hand free. I thought I was going to be stuck forever.

Wearing big fat gloves on both hands with duct tape that had the hold of Godzilla fused on both sleeve cuffs. How would I call for help? No Joke… what a predicament … but stuff happens. The lesson from this experience. Duct tape sticks to cloth more like it fuses to cloth. You know like those iron on patches. Well that’s exactly like the duct tape dilemma I accidentally discovered tonight. Don’t do that … :smt018

Wow...what a busy bunch you all are. Thanks for your kind comment @Pacnorwest , I feel unworthy of it this week as we've hardly been at home , today is the first time this week that we're not out for the day....so very much looking forward to spending it out in our garden.....whoa betide anyone who may visit or causes my plans to be changed!!!:smt018:smt018

Glad all ended well after Roxy's Deer chase into the forest...must 've been a very worrying few minutes until the rascal returned home.
How's it going with the Yellow Jackets??

@Anniekay I love learning of all the different words use in our language....and yes it can get a bit confusing at times can't it.:snicker:

@AAnightowl ...sounds like a busy time but your crops are doing well , isn't it great to be able to start reaping the rewards!!:like:

Your figs are looking lush @Daniel W ...I'm drooling!!! I did manage to pick some Blackberries yesterday evening as well to have with our breakfast and Greek Yogurt.

@Doghouse Riley .....do you ever tire!! Your garden is as stunning as ever.:)

@Logan pace yourself during the recovery period ahead , unfortunately I was too impatient and had to learn the hard way.
I think everyone as they age should get a bone density scan every so often as it will pre-warn those who may be at risk. I've had them regularly since 2011 when it was discovered that I have Osteoporosis in my lower spine. Despite taking prescribed Calcium and Vitamin D twice a day and sticking to a healthy bone friendly diet my scan last November showed I now have it in my hips too. I love Salmon, Sardines and leafy greens.:like:.... unfortunately I don't like milk but will grate a little cheese over my salads and disguise yoghurt with a fruit overload!!:)

Take care all and have a great day.x

Drastically cut back any wilting plants along the raised kitchen patio borders in the optimistic hope it might rejuvenate some ,if not all, of them. Pulled up and composted the worse. Deadheaded the Hostas. Harvested some seeds.

Caught these two trying to get into my garden… chased them off…
    P1050455.jpeg

Checked the ground bee mission and from the looks of a very quiet nest .. their toast.

these were carpenter bees. All done with this issue…

but… while waiting on bee issues the wild blackberries are starting to grow back and had to spray the entire area again this morning.
    IMG_0797.jpeg

Mowed the pastures, checked for critter activity found that the phesants have stolen all the black sunflower seeds out of the ground squirrel traps. Now will have to mesh it all in peanut butter and unsalted peanuts. See how that goes. Watered the front and back garden and mulched a few clippings.
Taking a break for the rest of the day for inside stuff.

I did fool miss Roxy this am at 6am the mom deer brought her fawn along to nibble on the roses. I caught them early before Roxy spotted them to prevent her from giving in to her herding skills. Of course she’s still on the look out…
