Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 13°C and clear. Another perfect weather day ahead ... 25°C and sunny. But we really do need some rain.
Slight change of my regular work routine today, as there is a wedding tomorrow and so my grass cutting day is a day early this week. Thursday brings a chance of rain, and I'm really hoping that weatherman isnt lying to me again.
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 19°C and clear. Weatherman says there will be thunderstorms this afternoon, as well as a chance of tornado activity. Good day to keep my eye on the sky!
Just another busy work day, with a client after work weather permitting. Getting closer to the weekend and I can't wait!
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all, and TGIF! Currently 23°C and mostly cloudy.
We had a storm last night. Lots of wind, not really all that much rain, and some thunder. Not even sure if my rain barrels were refilled, but rain was much needed. Hopefully the gardens are a little happier today.
One more work day to get through, then its the weekend! I have some workers coming over tomorrow, one to finish the laundry room/bathroom project as well as one to help me fill potholes in my driveway. That will be 2 jobs done off my 'to do' list, and that makes me happy
DD and Thunder found a dead groundhog yesterday Not sure why it was dead, but I think it was the one digging under my garage so I'm kinda relieved its gone. Now to try to push the gravel back under the garage foundation.
Have a great day all :)

Groundhogs are similar to ground squirrels and I’ve had my share around here. . They can do a lot of damage to foundations. Glad that issue is solved.
You have a busy day and a lot of projects on going. You have a good day too… :):smt041

    Today is a very special day--my husband's birthday!
I'm planning a special dinner of his favorites, and trying hard to get him to take it easy and enjoy his day, but the lawn and mower are calling so my effort may be futile.
Hope you all have a very special day, too.

Belated happy birthday to your dh @marlingardener

Today is my dh birthday. Getting ready to bake a pie and make pasta salad. Our son will take care of the rest of dinner. I got Bob a tiny little ice cream maker. Going to make peach

Well, we had a bear in our garbage this morning. We let the dog out at 4am because she acted like she needed out. She stood in place and barked like crazy. I looked outside to see our trash can had been knocked down and trash was all around. I walked out to get hazel and could smell the bear. It was still here but running off. I could hear branches snapping as it ran away. What a stench. The dogs are still excited 3 hours later.

Thankfully my berries weren't disturbed. But far too early to get up on a birthday, when people will be coming by. Oh . I can only do what I can do.

Oh wow what a terrible early morning wake up.:( Do you often get bears where you’re located. The bears roam a wide range of the forest area around here. I .have seen bear scat along the horse trails up in the Dixie Mountain range near the Olson quary. What a mess to straighten up. Keeping my trash inside the garage keeps the raccoons at bay. They are the night roamers. Coyotes are nearby always looking for prey nearby, as well a roaming bobcat.

Thank goodness for your dogs, warn with hyper barking when wild animals are near by. My dog took off after a deer into the forest last week I was really worried , but she came straight back home. It was a harrowing few minutes waiting and calling for her.

Peach icecream is great treat for the new icecream maker. Great idea, lots of peaches this season. Sending Birthday wishes to your DH. Have a great celebration.:smt035:sete_056:

We had gotten somewhat relaxed about bears as we haven't had one for a few years. We will have to start chaining the garbage can again. Seems to slow the bears enough to discourage them and they leave.

I can't imagine yourcworry when your dog ran out of sight and into the wilderness. A lot can happen in a few minutes with these silly dogs. They are worth every minute of concern though. I'm so glad your baby came home

@Columbiariver I had a bear on the farm when my husband was still alive around 2011. There was a picture of a bear in the paper that was taken at the high school, broad daylight, standing on his hind legs inside the 8' high chain link fence at the High School three miles from me. Next morning there was a BIG pile of scat just 15' from the barn.

We went down back to the ancient sinkhole on the property to look for one of my cats that hadn't turn up for breakfast and found a big old log, probably 18-24" wide, that was torn completely to shreds ! ! Bear prints all over !! After that I took my pistol with, just in case, so I could at least scare the booger off !! :suspicious:

To add to the bear saga, we found a pile of beautiful orange feathers and striped gray/tan feathers. Something got our friendly little Northern flicker. I had been watching it daily as it pecked at the trunk of the dead maple tree. We have had a flicker nesting box for years thats never been used, and I was hoping this one would couple up and nest where we could watch. They are so fun, especially in winter. Their orange feathers are so bright. Well, me and color. I just can't keep my eyes off of the bright things.

Anyway, yesterday I looked up the flickers predators. We have them all, of course. Crows, squirrels and black bears. Since this bird was an adult I'm pretty sure yogi bear got it. I'm disappointed but hopeful another will come. I will leave our rotten old snag of a tree to bring in more.

That bear must have spent some time on our place judging by the damage he did to random things.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 19°C and clear. Its going to be another hot one today and Environment Canada has already issued a heat warning for the area.
It was a busy weekend, with lots of yard work done as well as s[reading gravel for the potholes in the driveway. 3.5 yards and it wan't quite enough to fill them all. The driveway was really bad and I should probably get more and fill them all before winter. A friend helped with that. The floor guy didn't show up to finish the baseboard and bathroom, so I'm going to give him a few more days and then probably finish it up myself. So hard to find good help these days lol
Off to work, where I'm sure its going to be another stressful week. Our event tent needs work and its all hands on deck and I hate that kind of work. I'm the gardener, and I should be out in the gardens!
Off for my dog walk, and after reading the above posts I'm kinda worried about bears now and will bring my bear spray.
Have a great day all :)

You sound very busy @Netty take a moment just for you. I've dug my bear spray out of hiding and keeping it close again. Good idea to keep it on us while out where they are. Go easy.
