Beautiful Lillies @Pacnorwest , do you grow them in containers ??? I've always grown mine in them as it's such a faff to retrieve the bulbs for Winter storing. I'm seriously contemplating planting half out in the borders next year an seeing if they can be successfully left in the ground mulched and covered like the Dahlias.
Logan luv, luv, luv, your glads. A fav flower to see this time of year. Those are so colorful and last a long time. Oreti no problem on the lily question. I wanted to let you know that I first planted them for a time out in the garden, until the gophers and ground squirrels settled in. And deer. Now I plant them in pots in a secure area on the back porch..near the dog area. ThIs way the lily bulbs don’t become food for the animals . I just bring the pots in next to the house in a covered area to protect from winter frost or freeze. it’s the opposite of what you’re proposing for next season. I have been trying to down size the potted plants …
Thanks @Pacnorwest ...that's my plan too.... Yes that's what I've been doing, storing them in their pots in a sheltered corner, undercover in the nursery area for the last 7 years. They all bloomed this year but the display wasn't as good as usual.....perhaps they are getting too old now or was it the heat we've had this year.....???.
Thank you Pacnorwest, one year i left the lilies in the ground the next year when they started to grow the tops were eaten by snails. This year they did recover and flowered but I'm digging them up this year and pot them up to over winter in the back garden. Here in the Midlands they're frost hardy.
Oh my gosh @Pacnorwest ......what superb photos. Can't decide which is my fave but if I really had to I would go with the stunning Orange Tiger Lilly.
Pac— those are seriously nice-looking. The yucca and the hosta…verrrrry noice. I have no good words for mr Chippy.
Orchid bush bloom. I can't remember the scientific name of this bush but here is the bloom it produces.
Chitalpa El Nino is the name of the Orchid bush in my previous post. It's a relatively new hybrid from a Catalpa tree and a desert willow.
