We got away for a couple of glorious days at the central Oregon coast at Yachats. The food and the scenery are outstanding there and a night in a cottage is almost affordable. August is a good time to see amazing flowers blooming everywhere. We went to The Sealion Caves and saw some amazing views from inside the cliffs. The view points are accessed via a 16 floor elevator. No pics of the sealions because i video taped them, but there were easily 100 in one viewpoint. They are very loud creatures
Verrry interesting pics !! Seals are quite loud especially when you're in an enclosed area with them. Those barks echo and they're ear-shattering !! But, who doesn't love a seal any way? I BTW, I thought you were talking about going riding on a Yacht but, then I looked closer and realized: "I don't think that's the word Yacht !!" Heck, I had to go look up how to spell that ! It's kind of like trying to figure out how to spell phlegm !! Impossible until you humiliate yourself long enough for it to stick in your head !!
Thank you @Pacnorwest I'm sure you know it well. We do live in a beautiful place. Hi @Anniekay no yachts for me. I'm willing to try one of those though. Did you know that seals and sealions are 2 different beasts? Yip, they are. I could probably tell the difference if they were side by side, maybe. https://www.marinemammalcenter.org/news/seal-vs-sea-lion-your-guide-to-knowing-the-difference Hey @Jersey Devil you're too kind. Thank you for your compliment. I'm just a granny picture taker.
I knew that !! @Columbiariver Seals are littler and sea lions are humongous !! I saw both at Sea World. Otters are even cuter than both of them.
Very nice photos! I used to go there now and again, when I lived in Corvallis. It's such a beautiful place. These days we go to Ocean City once or twice a year, instead. It's nice too, but not as long a drive since I live north of Portland.
