Tetters bought me a new lump hammer and 2 wedges for splitting logs. I couldn't resist making a gif out of them :chuckle:

I have a sledge hammer with the same length handle as your lump hammer but the head is twice the size. I broke up an old cement sidewalk in my front yard with it. :)

    Maybe it's a slump hammer? ;););)

Well today we decided to visit Salisbury, a city in our neighbouring county. We did attempt this a couple of weeks ago but abandoned the idea as it was a very cloudy day. We usually visit regularly but due to my recovery process this is the first time this year

It was very busy with the market in full swing and buzzing with tourists.

This guy was a fantastic pianist and entertained everyone all afternoon.

We paid our usual visit to the Cathedral which proudly boasts having the tallest spire in England.

    Resize_20250805_225556_6765.jpg

Then went on to walk round and sat with a coffee in the beautiful and tranquil Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

Went on a hunt for old buildings Resize_20250805_225557_7522.jpg
Unfortunately I only got to snap this lovely old building as many had crowds around them and I tend to feel uncomfortable taking pics in such close situations.

We enjoyed a meal before heading back home. ... :smt088:smt100:smt103 on a bus that called into a local theme park to pick up lots of either hyper, tired or screaming children ( had forgotten about it being the school summer holidays) and their very worn out looking frazzled parents.
Not exactly a pleasant end to our day, I could literally feel hubs blood beginning to boil as the little girl sitting opposite us began an excavation of her nose and then flicked the treasures she had found lurking up her nostrils!! Oh the joys of little children , I couldn't help but giggle as I sensed hubs stress rising especially when a little baby refused to be calmed by a milk feed and cried non stop for the remaining journey to Southampton. Poor hubs ;) persuaded him to have supper in a restaurant in town this evening and this did the trick and he soon forgot the torturous bus trip home. He does love children honestly....just not screaming and nose picking ones.:smt044:smt044

For some strange reason he suggested we give visiting Salisbury a break for a couple of years... I can't think why :smt005:smt005.

Thanks Oreti for the nice tour around your country at Queen Elizabeth’s garden. Beautifully lush and green. The architecture is amazing to see. Nothing like it here in the US.

How did I forget to mention the beginning events of our trip out yesterday!!!!.
We were on the bus for about 25 minutes before hubs became suspiciously aware that although we were correctly on a Salisbury bus...known as the Salisbury Red we were infact travelling in the wrong direction ...this came apparent when we passed by the docks and cruise liners in....Southampton!!!! I thought it was sooo funny :smt044:smt044 but hubs was not so amused:frustrated::smt011. We stayed on the bus for it's return trip to....Salisbury and the rest of our trip story you already know.

Today we are definitely staying closer to home visiting my older sister then on to see my brother in the care home. That will involve 2 buses again but we will make sure they are the correct ones this time.;)

Lovely pics of Salisbury @Oreti :) Blimey, Southampton is a long way though

I used to go into Salisbury on a Saturday just to see people. We didn't see anyone all week when we were working on Clarendon Palace

Curiosity strikes again … what type of work did you do at the palace?

    Thanks @Zigs
It's normally an easy and straight forward journey....not sure what happened on Tuesday, we must've been asleep still!!:D:sleeping: It's only 23 miles from us, so not far.

My mate used to get the train from Aldershot to Farnham, he fell asleep and woke up in a dark locoshed in Portsmouth once :D

Spent months working alongside the archaeologists, they were digging the remains of the palace up and we were consolidating the ruins with lime mortar :)

That bit was to mount the ariel on without making a hole in the roof.
