Nothing again today as it's raining again and there's a lot of sport on TV.
But I will close up the vents in the tea-house, put the insulation on my jukeboxes and turn their heaters on timers on.
    Summer's over.

    Edit.
The covers are over the vents in the bottom of the back wall.

The roof vent has been removed, it sits in its winter position on top of a couple of screws and I've covered the extractor fan.

The jukeboxes are wearing their "winter coats" and the heaters are on timers between 6.00pm and 10.00am. I've a couple of extra old thermal lined curtains for more insulation if it gets really cold.

The doors have these thermal sheets over them permanently.

I'll still play a few records at least once a week through the winter just to keep them working. .

Planted some polyanthus along the path and dug up the old ones that won't be very good.

We're expecting high winds, although I don't think they will be as high locally, as elsewhere. But I'm not taking any chances, I've moved a few plants in ceramic pots temporarily, to less exposed positions.

Planted another 12 polyanthus along the path, it's surprising how long it takes, when digging the holes it was still dry in the bottom of it.
Also a lot of the crocus bulbs didn't make it, so ordered a lot more.

@Logan those polys will look great:smt055

Still tying to sort out what I did today. Been occupied by family visiting the past week and got a bit behind with garden projects.

At the moment a bit to tired to list all the stuff I did out in the garden not sure if I even remember , it’s all blurred into one thing after another… Just started out at 6:40 am with the usual mowing routine, critter inspection and a list of to do’s to ready the garden for winter. But didn’t manage to come inside till 4:00 pm. Ya all know how that goes when ya go out to do a list of planned things , then ya spot something ya gotta do while your there…. then another gotta do… and another gotta do… Well…It’s like the Gardeners version of the Rube Goldberg Machine… It’s the effect of tallying projects than run into each other over and over til something finally snaps. Usually me… :chuckle: as one thing leads to another over and over until I forget what I originally started to do in the garden in the first place. Managed to do a lot but to pooped to list it all.

@Pacnorwest :smt044 same happens to me !! You start your project list and along the way you find other stuff right there staring you in the face. So, as to accomplishing gardening in an efficient manner, you go ahead and do those newly discovered projects while you are there. By the end of it all you got a lot done but your list has almost nothing checked off !! :smt043 That's me all the time !!

I spent a few hours ripping morning glories and some other flowering annual vines off my fence. Did a bit of pruning and tore out the last of the spent zinnias.

Anniekay, It’s tricky to stick to task when there’s so many tasks vying for attention at once … Ya know the ones you say to yourself … ” I’ll get to that next time…” . Next time never comes while each next time always has another new task to add to the next time list. Til all the next times become even more demanding . Then it’s .. ok I’ll do this one now… as we make a deal not to do what we originally set out to do, which in turn then becomes the new …
”OK ,I’ll do it next time.” LIST. :sete_013: It’s the only way to stay sane… :smt023 Is it really or is it justifying ?

.......Oh Pac and Anniekay .....you're both describing a typical day out in the garden for me too!!!!
I get so easily distracted...I find that just going on a trip to the greenhouse / garage to select the implements needed for one task is enough to set me off track as I spy other jobs needing to be done on the way!!. I convince myself that it's better to do them NOW...incase I forget them.........and by the end of the day I have done so many that I had actually forgotten to do the original task I had set out to do. I need a pair of horse blinkers.....have you a spare pair by any chance.:smt044

The high winds forecast for last night didn't happen and it's quite benign today, although there were some heavy showers. It amused me that coming home from shopping, I was used to the automatic "flick-wipe," coming on when there's a bit of rain, but it amused me that at one point when a heavy shower started, it went from flick wipe, to steady wipe, to "wiping like mad," then back to flick-wipe when it eased off.
