I think we'd all be better off to just resolve ourselves to the fact that the garden is a sneaky little devil and, when we aren't looking, it's conspiring against us !! :smt044.

    I'll say!

I checked the tops of the wisterias for any unwanted new growth and was pleased to have found none. But then I looked at all the bottom of the trunks and found lots of new growth which needed pruning off!

@Oreti your day was hilarious describing a gardener’s day of accomplishments. It’s always a challenge to stay on task. Especially when everything is calling for attention at once. I agree ..I need horse blinkers or blinders too.
So… if you’re a crafter here’s a pic maybe an easy way to make a pair.

I used to have six sets of harness. Probably the Mini horse size would fit a human head but they come with snaffle and overcheck bits !! :smt044:smt044:smt044

We've been doing a bit of the Autumn cut backs and yesterday I also removed some of the spent Summer bedding. This gave way to spaces for planting out more Wallflowers and the remaining Heuchera and Ajuga cuttings. I also removed and replanted a lot of Polyanthus, I don't like to have straight rows of plantings so all these were position in a jumbled up looking way.......;).......I've convince myself over the years that plants don't self seed and plant themselves out in an orderly manner. :chuckle: .

I'm also pondering as to whether or not to split the potted Grasses up and plant them into borders, they're not that big really in fact they are probably pot bound.
I will ponder on with this thought ....

Also thinking of removing a large ,woody and unruly Lavender too that always ends up blocking a main pathway.

    Thinking cap is on........

    Oreti—Good work, meid.
Why not take cuttings of that lavender and plant them out next season.

I picked more raspberries, did a load of laundry and hung it up. Then this afternoon I met with my son and he explained the different determinisms. I had to leave early that day so I needed to catch up.

I bought a new bigger freezer, this year. I had/have a small (I think it's 3 cu ft) freezer that isn't frost free. But my new one is. I used my last income tax refund from working. I always claimed 0 on my pay checks so I can get a refund and buy things I need. I got mine during a 4th of July sale.

My beans are turning yellow, soon they'll be dry and brown and I can pull them.

We have a big Miele fridge/freezer, that's frost-free. It has an endless number of different settings. So much more to go wrong. and it has once, which cost £170 to fix.
Fifty years ago, we had a small Hotpoint Iced Diamond fridge/freezer. Which was really one on top of the other, as they had separate compressors with the controls in the middle. It wasn't frost free, but worked faultlessly for 20 years, then saw service in our tea-house for another ten.

Planted more polyanthus around the path and dug up the crocuses to see how many i need to replace the ones that haven't survived the droughts.

Haven't got a frost free freezer because it costs more to run it.

Oreti— oh, oké. I don’t suppose that I have to ask the name of that lavender plant, do I?;)

Food Bank pick-up this morning. Another six crates. Not bad, for end of the season donations.
The wind has severely damaged some flowering plants and the paprikas. Tomorrow there will be work to do if it stops raining.

Did a bit of lawn patching, with some stuff my wife bought me from her shopping channel. She likes to help, but tends to believe a lot of what's said about a product.

I've used some before, there's a lot of makes out there. It's just lawn seed and fertiliser. But it's important to cover it with a mixture of soil and compost. I sieved it to make it fine, treaded it in and then mist sprayed the several areas.
