A mid-afternoon nibble urge caused my Bride to whip out the old licorice box. I popped the top off and saw this roly-poly making a break for the edge.

I thought to myself, if that beast wants to take a trip, I can help with that.

    Adios.

    Ough, I love licorice !!
How the heck did he get in there ? Were you eating those, the last time, while on the allotment ?

When I first bought this house there were huge fire ant mounds along the foundation. I had the exterminator right away. Then my kitchen was remodelled, and with all that banging and ripping old cabinets from the walls, the fire ants found some cracks and had worked their way up into the pantry. They were feasting on Everything they could possibly get into.

The exterminator had to crawl under the house, lift the vapor barrier and he pumped 500 gallons of spray under there to finally get rid of them. Haven't had an unwelcome guest since !! :D

Annie— chuckle. That isn’t a real role-poly, it is a piece of licorice. The licorice here comes in many, many different shapes.
My Bride had just shaken the container and one just happened to stick to the side.
Y’know though, that licorice really does look like a roll-poly doesn’t it…the way it was sitting there. Gotcha.

Terrible about that fire ant infestation. Holy-moly. :(

    Tee hee :D

Our friends bring us liquorice over from Holland when they visit. You have a lovely selection over there compared to here :)

Zigs— Licorice is a thing here with a variety of colours, tastes and shapes. Many shapes are playful such as animals, coins, geometric shapes, buildings and so forth. Some are sweet and some ate salty.
I was surprised to hear that you liked it so much as import it. Not many folks like the flavour of the licorice. It can be an acquired taste.

    Annie— sorry.

I love Liquorice Sjoerd. I could eat my own weight in it and one day I fully intend to :)

@Sjoerd Now that little surprise hiding in your licorice bin reminds me of all the terrifying creatures that are hiding below in our gardens. All locked in nicely underground feasting on garden treats that they indulge in with no consequences other than a fat huge belly and unknowingly eventually finding death… the traps are filling quickly this year in my gardens. More details later…But the mystery in the YouTube vid below has the message we all have experienced at one time of another…

    Good Liquorice Sjoerd :)

We used to have things called Sherbet Fountains here, they had a hollow tube of Liquorice that you could suck the sherbet up with. Health and Safety stopped them

Heh heh heh…ach. It sounds like fun to me. When you were courting Tetters, did you take her out for a Sherbet? ❤️
