Loggie— you surely do still have some colour there. The roses are so attractive with their subtle colour…mate, but that Cosmes I am really taken with. It is my favourite variety. Just stunning.
So I planted these four coleus plants this Spring. I leave the sprouts on because the bees love them and we all know bees are welcomed guests. They love the coleus stems, are on them all day long. Its a wonder I never got zapped by any of them walking thru my door. Anyway, the bees pollinate them all over the place and late in the year its fun to see where they deposit them. Make some interesting mixes. Here are the four originals:
These pics are typical for this time of year here. Clematis terniflora— what an intoxicating aroma it has. Rudbeckia The bees: Loading-up with pollen: This Aster is a favourite for many different pollinators. Here is a Vanessa Atalanta …and then closed:
I was just going to say the same too!! I love Coleus but didn't get round to sowing any this year, I may be mistaken but I think they can be sown all year round I will have to hunt out the seed pkt. They make nice indoor plants as well. Sjoerd what fab blooms you still have they look so brand new and fresh not at all like the tatty on their last legs ones we have. Stunning pics everyone, they sure brighten up the ever shortening dull days of October.
Jersey what a nice surprise.Outstanding pics of your lovely plants, and beautiful coleus collection. Easy to propagate from cuttings this time of year. Just pop the 2-3” cuttings in water after removing the last 2 leaves where the roots will form. Once roots form slowly add a few tablespoon of sterile soil daily until the container is just soil. By next spring plant them in a larger container and you can enjoy them all again. Sjoerd As always beautiful pics of your lovely flowers. I enjoy your commentary and pics every year. You help keep a lot of us going.. ya know..
Oreti— cheers for your flowery compliments. It is true that some of those blooms really have just come out. Pac— what nice things you said. Thank you. Keep you going, though? How so, mate? Encouraging words coming from someone who has such stunning gardens. Loggie— I like those. You still have some beauties. My Cosmea is almost finished.
I have a few things blooming now that temps are staying below the 90's. I only have two of the yellow lycoris
