Well I braved our weather today, , it has rained all day but appropriately kitted out in my faithful gardening waterproofs kept me ( mostly) dry.
I have finally stowed away all the remaining flower pots and cleaned the remaining seed trays. These have been stacked in the newly cleaned out lean-to coldframe. All cobwebs with their dead prisoners have been cleaned out and shelves have been swept . On the next dry day I will re home the seed trays, hopefully I will be able to sneak them into hub's workshop/ garage without him noticing...if I get caught then I will use my backup plan....under my greenhouse staging...begrudgingly. ;):snicker:
I will also recover the shelves but it was too wet and breezy today to attempt that.

    Before ..... IMG_20250930_164804.jpg
After...( with the yet to be removed seedtrays)
    IMG_20251003_152104.jpg

Next job is to identify these and decide their fate.

I always get my bulbs mixed up ....they just all look like Onions to me.

Orieti managed to get out the rain gear and the cleaning is done looks great. . Congrats. It all looks so nice and clean and well organized. Even your onions , err-uh bulbs are nicely organized. I am so proud of all the efforts you put in to get the job done. It’s took determination and of course dedication. You’re a ‘Neatnik’ like so many of us that post. Lovely to see it all and I can see the cold frame and lean-to both a good place to spend time sewing seeds , plant cuttings and lots of garden skills for enhancing your beautiful gardens . Your luv for gardening is in your hands heart and mind .. even those cells that keep generating as we all know time is closing in. Nothing is stopping you … Enjoy your posts very much. :smt060

:smt041Thank you :smt041 everyone for the lovely compliments on the sunset-moon pics. Just goes to show ya gardening is always full of surprises. Just look up once in awhile ya never know what you’ll see.

Thanks Pac, your comments are so kind and encouraging.

The ' onions' are sorted by colour with a few ',iffy' ones waiting for my final decision :smt119. I will just dig some holes and plant each tray en masse. I will then wait with baited breath that they don't all emerge in mixed groupings:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:.

It's rained all day again. Therefore, nothing in the garden. So I've binged watched "Dark Winds" on Netflix over the last two days. I've seen it before, but quite enjoyed it.
I've cleaned my golf clubs. ready for next week. I've put a few more mp3s on the USB stick in my car. I also watched the England Women hammer South Africa in their World Cup match.
I've also put one of my three spare tuner/amps on eBay. Although I buy a lot of stuff on eBay, I haven't sold anything on it for years. It seems a far more complicated process than before. So in the end a busy day.

    Lovely Pac and Oreti.

I've been so lazy for the last couple weeks. Besides trying to stave off multiple deaths by watering I've only done a few menial chores: weeding, trimming and digging out bird-seeded wisteria plants growing in the garden beds. Trimmed the seed pods off the last crepe myrtle that just finished flowering. That filled a whole wheelbarrow since that supposedly purple one ( looks pink to me !!) flowers very late and profusely.

It's too hot still, and too windy to plant out any of the brassicas I have in pots inside. Supposed to rain next friday, though. We'll see.

Anniekay thank you .. I appreciate your comments.

The heat wave will be hitting soon as it’s a rare event this time of year here.
Keep kool and don’t work to much outside in the heat of the day. Maybe set up solar lights to approach some out side night gardening. Hey it’s just an idea. You’re talking to someone who hunts slugs and snails at night with solar lights. :like:

I pulled out a couple of shrubs using the tractor. A old rhodie and an old butterfly bush. Managed to pull out a dead section of a eucalyptus and piled them for hauling.

Found a couple of dirt mounds in the pastures . Looks like the moles are trying to sneak in. Also set a trap or two. I keep sending the moles. voles and ground squirrels over to the neighbors. Boy their pasture is covered on mounds.

Here’s a neighbors pasture pic .. yikes so glad they are not in my pastures. They can really make a huge mess.

With less hot weather, I'm back in the garden. The theme of work-reduction and downsizing will continue this winter. I also want to focus on what has solid history of successes in my garden over the years.

Here is the harvest a couple of days ago.
    IMG_4568.jpeg

The squashes are "Red Kuri", "Canada Crookneck", and couple of yellow crookneck summer squash. The apples are "Macoun". There are a couple of slicing tomatoes, some figs, and some of the green beans.

Today, I pulled up the bush bean plants, then held them up and picked beans. That went faster. I harvested all of the remaining green beans. Plus another yellow straightneck squash.

    IMG_4580.jpeg

(I suppose it shows, I like squashes a lot).

A few years ago, I inoculated beans with Rhizobium, which makes nodules on the roots and pulls nitrogen from the air to make fertilizer. I did not do that this year. It was interesting to see that it's still there, making new nodules.

    IMG_4577.jpeg

Some of the bean plants were in containers. I cleaned those up and dug the soil a little.

    IMG_4562.jpeg

Then I separated sets of Egyptian Walking Onions, which I set aside this summer. They started to make roots after the last rain. I separated them and planted in some of the available containers.

    IMG_4563.jpeg

Another container got some lily bulbs. Not every inch has to be edible.

    IMG_4582.jpeg

That iris went into the border. The instruction said to plant 4 to 6 inches dee. What?!?! That's not right!

    IMG_4584.jpeg

I also moved two rose bushes from half barrels, into the duck yard. Less watering next year.

    IMG_4557.jpeg

    IMG_4558.jpeg

They will have fall, winter, and spring to establish. The duck yard will get a major pruning and cleanup this winter.

I up-potted the heirloom rose that I grew from a cutting two winters back. It had three flushes of blooming this year, and is very fragrant, so I want to keep it on the deck.

    IMG_4575.jpeg

Now I had 2 half-barrel pots with no plants in them, so I planted tulip bulbs.

    IMG_4560.jpeg

I cut, blanched, and froze about 1/4 of the green bean harvest. More of that tomorrow.

Nothing today as it's still very damp out there. I may tidy the shed and garage this afternoon.
I was going to clean the hall and stairs carpets with our Vax "push and pull" carpet cleaner, but I've remembered I've got my Covid/flu jab this morning, so I'll leave it until tomorrow, in case my arm's sore. It isn't usually after I've had it done.

Nothing in the garden either, although I had planned on a session out there after housework duties had been done.
Inbetween phone/ video catch ups with our brood I decided to attend to some long awaited
needlework jobs , buttons needing reattaching, , seam of a pocket on one of my coats had started to undo , a hole in a pocket lining on another coat needed sewing back together.....after retrieving odds and ends that had fallen through into to main lining of the coat!!:D
It's a very satisfying feeling getting all the niggling outstanding jobs finally done. :)
