I liked Kim Novak in, "Bell, Book and Candle."

I thought Jimmy Stewart over-acted and spoilt it a bit.
It was the first time I'd heard the Candoli brothers. Both played jazz trumpet and here in the nightclub scene, with Jack Lemon playing the bongos.

Not a movie but a new drama series on BBC iPlayer

"Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue."

I suppose calling it "Ten Little Indians" wouldn't have been "PC" but they might as well, it was pretty much the same plot idea. they should have given Agatha Christie a credit.

I fast-forwarded through quite a bit of several episodes.

Since I was disappointed that the cyclone missed Karachi, (again). And thus I couldn't test a few of my inventions in such weather. I decided to drown my sorrows in a disaster movie. Therefore I ended up watching The Lost Bus.

Not a bad movie when it comes to picturizing. At least it quenched my thirst for watching extreme events.

Last week we went to the cinema and saw Downton Abbey The Grand Finale. It tied up all the loose ends that had accumulated over the years that the TV series had run and was brought to a pleasing end.
Often find that some long runners are brought to an end leaving lots of unanswered storylines dangling....so annoying. Thankfully not in the case of Downton Abbey.:like:

I love that movie !! Betty Davis is my favorite !!
That scene from one movie where she walks into a room in an appartment building, cigarette in hand.
Takes a drag on her cig, blows out a mouthful of smoke and says: "What. A. Dump !!". :smt044

I love her too. She was quite a character personally. As was Joan Crawford… what a pair those 2 were.

My fav saying from a BD movie is “Tighten your seatbelts , it’s gonna be a bumpy night”. :snicker:

Svengoolie scary movies for Holloween … I didn’t know you were a goolie! It all makes sense now…that makes you a
Jersey Devilgoolie. If ya think Betty Davis is creepy then watch Joann Crawford in “Strait-Jacket” . Major creepy …

I used to watch Svengoolie back in the 90's but only once in a while.

Creepiest of all movies to me is Silence of the Lambs and it's sequel Hannibal. Those pigs !! After Hannibal I was leery of pigs and still am !! :smt088

Tried watching, "The Iris Affair" on Sky.
Gave up after two episodes, as it was insulting my intelligence.
I also dislike dramas when there are separate "timelines," between which they keep swopping backwards and forwards. This requires a lot of concentration and the plot has to be interesting enough, to maintain your attention. This wasn't.
Didn't fancy anything else that was available last night.
So I looked through my many recordings of classic films and re-watched, "The Thirty-nine Steps."
The best of the three versions of which I was familiar, the original, with Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll.
The film is now 95 years old.

I've started watching "The Ridge" on BBC iPlayer. An Australian drama series. But it's already testing my patience.
I'm finding that with many dramas now, the principal characters have an increasing amount of unnecessary "personal baggage." Such is the case with this one.
I might not last the whole first episode.
