Haven't got quite as much done as I had hoped as I have had to move around bit gingerly as my back played up a lot yesterday in protest of me turning our mattress and moving the big heavy pots of Hostas around on Sunday.

    Deadheaded the Cosmos and Dahlias.
Removed some more Gladioli from the borders.
Emptied out two of our big display containers that had Petunias and Gypsophlia in them.
Gave the potted Platycodons a general trim and tidy up and moved them to a their Winter shelter.
Washed out some pots for storing.
    Raked up some leaves.
Bagged up some more Apples to take to the Community Table tomorrow.
Finally ended the session with the dreaded Acorn clean up!!!

Planted 100 crocus bulbs in between the polyanthus, couldn't do much because it had been drizzling most of the morning.

I'm getting two raised beds ready for planting. I added fertilizer and compost and had to water them deeply, they were dry right to the bottom. Then I mulched them and as soon as the "heat wave" is over I plan to get my shallots, some lettuce and my brassicas in.

Beautiful Pac, I noticed today that our leaves are really beginning to drop now which will mean separating the acorns from them as best as possible to allow me to start collecting them to bag up for making leaf mould.

Back is too painful to lay on so I'm up at this unearthly hour washing painkillers down wth hot chocolate . What is the time difference.?.it's almost 2 am over here.

    Thanks @Logan .
Having a day off today, just heading out the door for one of our weekly wanders, and popping in to visit my brother on our return journey home later this afternoon.

That reminds me ,we're on our last few bags of compost too...can't believe we got 8 bags only a little while back....or so it seems!!

    Your welcome @Oreti

Potted up 4 big pots with tulips and polyanthus, had to get the gladioli out first.

Leaf mold is abundant here , don’t need to pack leaves up. Leaves are mulched every year and fertilize lawns and pastures. I have a spot to put leaves in an area like a compost ben, once the cherry leaves fall so use those for breaking down over winter for compost.

Lots of mushrooms popping up everywhere. Of course it’s nice that the lawns and pastures are so nice and green again. I let them go dormant. Can’t always keep up with watering . Of course pasture mowing and checking for critters as well as eliminating all those needles falling is a daily occurrence.

Put 125 miles on my garden tractor so far this year and as soon as I can I need to change the oil and check the filters, belts, and fluids. A gardeners work is never done. We all know that all too well. The benefits of quality management is Priceless. :smt023

Back problems are scary. Every morning I hang from a bar to stretch my back. Sometimes all it takes is sneezing to throw it out and I'm useless for two weeks. Its good you take your time and be cautious

Stretching the best thing you can do for your back. I broke my back in 92 and still have sciatic nerve problems. I stand at arms length from my kitchen counter, lean on the edge of the counter with both hands, then stretch each leg as far out from behind me as I can and raise my leg higher and higher until it's parallel with the ground. That takes all the kink out of my spinal cord and I actually feel taller afterwards. I had a disc removed and have now encapsulated bone shards in my spinal cord so they could not replace the disc with a spacer. This contributes to the nerve pain since my back goes out of alignment more easily sans that disc.

So much cleaning-up, harvesting and mulching for the winter.

Here are the last of the ‘Moonlight’ apples.
    IMG_1580.jpeg

Then winter decking has begun in earnest now.

I have to wait until more flowering perennials die back or stop producing flowers before finishing this mulching task.

Fortunately, there was not a lot that needed doing today, that can't wait until the week-end. I may start stripping the first wisteria.

    But I was quite busy.
I had my dental check-up this morning which was fine and then did the shopping for the week-end. Thursday is also main laundry day so that's bedding and towels and a couple bags of clothes got included somehow. So that takes several hours but I can be backwards and forwards whilst watching the tennis on TV.

I'm still the main cook. I'm getting quite good at it....Well not exactly..
But I can manage the instructions when using this.

Tonight, it was rib-eye steaks, oven chips and asparagus.

Our kitchen is very small and the air-fryer has to go in the small space between the sink and the tall oven unit.

It tasted fine, but my presentation isn't very good. But I'm not that bothered.

Followed by raspberries and cream in meringue nests .

We'll probably have steak again on Sunday, we've decided we deserve it twice a week, although my wife doesn't eat a lot.
