Good Monday morning all. Currently -1°C and clear. Brrrr
A very productive day yesterday, getting 3 of the big gardens cut back, the ornaments put away, and the 2 water pumps winterized just in time for the freezing night last night.
Then a friend came and picked up me and my 4 wheeler for an afternoon of trail riding. It was great, but wow are my shoulders sore today! Should make for an interesting day at work today,
Beef is very expensive here too, but I was lucky to catch a really good sale last week. I love grilled steaks and look forward to eating them tonight - didn't get to them yesterday.
Have a great day all :)

Today, the engineer came from the stairlift company to service ours.
No faults were found during a comprehensive test of the works and all the safety features.
He was in his fifties and had a young twenty-something year-old trainee with him.

He noticed my jukebox wall boxes on their shelf just inside the door to the front room.
So we got into a conversation about jukeboxes and vintage Motown records and artists.
He actually has a 1967 Seeburg. After the service, I took him down to the garden to show him my Rock-Olas. It amused me that his trainee hadn't a clue about what we were discussing.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently just 1°C and clear. The high is only 11°C today.
Woke up very stiff and sore today. I pretty much hurt all over, and its clearly due to my ride the other day. I didn't get out yesterday, so hopefully getting out today will help.
Lots to do at work first!
Have a great day all :)

@Netty - you're going to have so much fun with the ATV :) Is it a Quad? or a Side by Side? I had a surprise cheque from a many many years ago job in my early 20s. Because my small pension contribution sat and collected interest for a few and a bit decades, the pay out they offered me will go towards a Side by Side in the spring. I find my quad and dirt bike are too hard on my arthritic hands these days. And the snowmobile especially. And this way I can take Angus hahaha

We have just come out a major wind event and three days without power. I was very grateful for our generator that kept the lights on and the heat tape and water pump going. The power crews would remove one tree and repair it and then another tree would come down elsewhere on the lines. They pulled crews out a few times as the wind made it unsafe.

Now that there are no leaves, the crews could see our lights on and came to check if we had a generator. One repair crew had their radio go out so they used our internet. It was thank you coffee travel mug refills and cookies for all around, and then back out they went. We counted about 8 trees that had taken down power lines on the drive to town.

This made for a day of firewood retrieval, splitting and stacking yesterday.

We are waiting for a blanket of white stuff to fall today. Which is good as we were up VERY late watching the World Series. Way past our bed time for these Blue Jays fans. Today can be a lazy day.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 2°C and clear. At least its not frosty this morning.
I'm still a little stiff this morning, and my arm is black and blue, but I think the worst is over. I went out for a short ride last night, but somehow different muscles are used when you are on flat ground. @Melody Mc. Its a quad, a Honda Rubicon, and its a lot of fun! I've got a Kubota side by side for plowing my driveway and doing the yard work, but its more like a tractor than anything. Both machines serve their purpose.
Off to work where fall clean up continues.
Have a great day all :)

Thruout summer been doing some minor up dating inside the house. Painting , uncluttering and donating a lot of clothing, food , tools, odds and ends and furniture. It left me with a blank slate to clean up spaces, declutterring and opening up new spaces. Been in this house over 30 years. Yikes where does the time go?
And who knew , left me wondering :worried: … where did all the stuff come from in the first place.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 4°C and overcast. We just came out of 2 days of rain, so I'm hoping for a dry day today. Also hoping the well water level has improved as a result of all the rain. Off to the rink this morning until noon, and I'll see the grandkids while there. Then home to do a few inside chores and hopefully time for a ride on my 4 wheeler.
Have a great day all :)

Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. I have been trying to reduce internet use in general, although not here. I just don't have a lot to say.

After my parents died in about 2010, I was left with a lot of boxes of letters, photos, mementoes, etc that I didn't know what to do with. So they just sat in a spare bedroom, most of the time. Half filling that room. I sent a lot of family history photos to an interested cousin. I didn't want to discard any, but I have to face reality that it's just clutter, so I am sorting and getting rid of a lot. That follows decluttering in general which has slowed down but was pretty successful and life is much nicer with less "stuff". The car is loaded with another load to take to Good Will today. That spare bedroom is 90% cleared out now.

I found a new home for the vintage sewing machine and for a near-century old quilt. Plus some antique furniture and some, just old, furniture.

I started old person Tai Chi class again. Studies have shown that Tai Chi is one of the best ways to prevent falls and maintain function. It's a long drive so I don't know how long I will do it. I think I already see improvement.

I'm also half way through the first quarter if a Spanish class, again. To keep my brain sharp. I'm surprised at how much I recall from previous classes.

Today I will go to the "budget" grocery store (where I usually shop) and buy nonperishables / nutritious foods to take to the food bank. I don't like the driving, but I can do this. It's the least I can do.

It's raining, so no doggie walk today.

    That's about all for today.

Good day all! At last daylight savings time is over. What a dumb idea that is, which inconveniences so many people. We spend time running around on Sunday morning resetting clocks. Not a saving of time! Try explaining to a cat why her breakfast is later, and her bedtime also. The chickens don't care because we took down the clock in the coop!;)
Also we are glad Halloween is over. All the advertisements with Halloween trappings (for selling boats, for Pete's sake) and the TV shows catering to the "holiday". I'm ready to prepare and enjoy Thanksgiving (if Santa keeps his nose out of it!).
Hope you all enjoyed an extra hour of sleep, and can enjoy getting up to daylight instead of the gloom of night!

@marlingardener. Good to see you here. And yes I did enjoy the extra hour of sleep. The clock in the chicken coop is gone … well that’s a good thing cause the roosters around here (neighbors) are always crowing at the first sign of sun up.

This thanksgiving will be the first without my DH and all the kids will be here and we are all thankful for the time we all have together. I’m fixin all the goodies and I bet you are too. Started early !

    Have a Good Day!

All my clocks are atomic except the one on the stove...off to turn that back 1 hour. :smt043

Good Monday morning all. Currently 6°C and overcast. We have rain in the forecast again today. This rain has been good for my well, that seems to be keeping up with our more regular usage this week. I did all the laundry this week, spaced out, without problem.
It was a busy weekend, getting chores done and the truck sold and out of the yard.
Today, its back to work for what I think is the final week.
Have a great day all :)
